8's...10's...13's.... Which have been the most productive big fish lures for you? I had a lot of situations last summer where a follow on a double 10 led to a commitment on a throwback double 8. I feel that I don't throw 13's enough and looking for justification to add a few more colors to the arsenal...Thoughts?

I throw mostly 8's and 10's but I don't see a big difference. If anything I usually end up down sizing to 8's or even a single #7 or #6 worked a little quicker to get fish to commit. If I'm moving a lot of fish but not getting hookups I'll try 13's for a while or much smaller baits. So for me I guess I like to have 'em all at the ready but most fish seem to fall to double #8's. I am curious to hear what others would say...

When you say 8s are we talking mag 8s, otherwise known as 9s? I throw 10s mostly, but has some very good results with 13 over the last few years. I throw the big stuff when I don't feel the need to burn. I rarely throw regular 8s. I do think I will use 13s more this year though.

--- try casting a single #10 or a single #12 Magnum blade ,,,, really has a thump that triggers fish ,,, I prefer the magnum fluted blades made by Lakeland Inc. ------- jim

I haven't used 13's. I don't throw 10's that much because they wear me out plus I have a bad shoulder but the fish I caught on them have been bigger than the 8's. I mostly throw 8's & have put a a good number of fish in the boat with them. Probably would put more in the boat with the 8's but I've been throwing bucktails less & less the past couple of years.

All blade sizes have their place and time it all depends on what the fish want at that time. I usually start out with 8's as I can throw them all day and i can get fish moving with them. If they don’t bite and just follow I know that I can upsize or downsize from there along with just throwing out single bladed buck tails too The thump they produce sometimes kicks the fish into striking.

Double 8's seem to get way more action for me, but my biggest came on a double 10. Didn't throw my supermodel much this year, but I'll be giving it it's due time this year.

We stick with 10's and 12's on LSC and have amazing results with them.

I find that blade thickness makes a huge difference between casting and trolling. Thicker blades are good for trolling but I don't like them for casting but the thinner blades are great for both.

I'm about to place a big order from an online shop and they don't sell any dbl cowgirls. Should I hold back from buying DC-9 bucktails instead? It seems like these compete with Jr cowgirls which is the size I'm interested in.
