| Hey all. I'm heading up to Martin Lake in the NWT (between Great Slave & Great Bear) early next month for some Pike & Lake Trout fishing with a little Arctic Grayling thrown in for a change of pace.
Growing up a trout fisherman in New England, and having now lived in Cincinnati for more than 10 years, I'm more used to Bass fishing than anything else.
Any general suggestions and do/don't thoughts for an experienced bass & trout fisherman getting ready for his first battle with the mighty Pike?
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

| took my first trip north last year. found the pike to LOVE the traditional spoons. (daredevil, redeye, etc.) i used med. heavy spin gear. if the water your fishing is clear, go with the five of diamonds, red/white patterns- more natural looking baits. if its stained- flourescents (firetiger, etc.) should do the job. don't overlook big spinnerbaits, we did well with them as well, following the same color scheme as above. most of all- good luck and good fishing. | |
