Fished in some very frigid temps and had guides and reel freeze up a lot over the last 2 weeks. Now my Calcutta feels like either the gears are slipping or damaged when I turn the handle. I thought it was just the ice while fishing but then stopped using it. Now even after thawing out it still slips/stutters.

Any advice?
When U fish in cold temps and your reel ice up and U push the reel something has to give. If the reel is less then a year old send it back to Shimano. If it is older then a year send it to me as it sounds like one of the plastic gears has lost a tooth or two, which they are made to break when U jam the reel up and U keep on turning the handle, keeps the main gears from being damaged.

Definately send to shimano satellite facility near you for warranty repair. I've sent in 2 reels this fall and have had them fixed and back in less than 2 weeks. It's worked great and hVent paid a dime and have had over $75 of repairs done. You can find the nearest place to you on the shimano website. Very quick and easy. If out of warranty, pike master is a great choice. I have sent numerous reels to him and he has done a great job!
