Location: Oshawa, Ontario | I am trickle charging my batteries for the second time this winter and one of them looks weak. Has anyone out there tried some of these "specialty" batteries that claim to be almost indestructable (like Evertroll, etc.) I realize they are more $$, but if the advertisements are true, maybe they are worth it. Presently I use Interstate and have put two sets of deep cycle batteries and one cranking battery in my boat (new in '97). I have the usual electronics (two LCG's, a GPS, a 12/24 57lb troll motor).
Thanks |

Location: Minneapolis, MN | If you live in the Chicago area, contact Battery Service Corp in Bensenville. They will sell the Trojan's direct to you for about $79.00/ea which retail about $140/ea. If you can fit it, get the SC225 model, awesome battery. |

Location: oswego, il | Luke tells it right. battery Service sells some good batteries. I have their normal one, I forget the rating but it's the only one I have seen like it. Will start it's 4th season too. |

Location: Greenfield, WI | I used to get the biggest deep cycle battery I could, and I still couldn't get more than 18 months use out of them.
I go to a company called Batteries Plus, which has stores pretty much in every state east of the Rocky Mountains.
I started using Uptima Batteries. My current battery is over 3 years old without any sign of aging. I get much more use out of this battery between charging than the conventional ones. It costs $132.00, but has lasted more than twice as long as my old mammoth sized battery. The Optima Battery is about the size of a six pack of malt liquor. This battery can be discharged, froze, charged up, topped off, and mounted at any angle. It has been wonderful. There e-mail address is: [email protected]. They advertise in In-Fisherman as well as other magazines, so their website should be listed there.
