2 days to go dude!!! After 3 days it's all down hill!! Don't give in to those large tobacco companies. They've spent millions and millions of dollars finding the perfect way to " hook " people. Don't let them win!! You can be sure that when your dieing of heart disease or cancer they won't be there to help you or your soon to be widow !! Eat a carrot, chew a piece of gum!! Get a kiss from your lady!! Do what ever it takes!! Don't give in!! YOU CAN DO IT!! Keep the faith!

Good luck!!

Hang in there, Slamr. Life sucks alot worse when you need to have a lung transplant or have your voice box hacked out.

Just hang on man, think about the lures you can buy with the money you would have spent on smokes. Find whatever is your motivation and hang on. For me it was my wife, prior to getting married, she said her or the smokes. Easy choice. It really is a mental game. No different than pounding the water for 16 hrs and not seeing a thing, just believe it will happen. Life is better on the other side.

Steve I know a guy that was the life of a party because of his quick jokes and come backs, now he can't talk, his voice box is in a land fill. Hang in there Slamr!!!! Its all good once you don't give in. Who needs those "lung rockets" anyway.

I know you are all correct....but still sucks to be nervous, have no concentration, drooling like a pig at the thought of a smoke, and ready to punch anyone and anything that disagrees with me (that includes the coffee maker not being as full as I would like it to be). Thank you, feeling better now.

If you came and work a shift with me I could show you plenty of good reasons not to smoke, nearly half of the patients we see are from smoking related problems. Keep up the good work on quiting it's the best thing you can do for yourself and your family. Good luck.

Whatever you do, dont start buying tic tacs in place of cigarettes. I made that mistake when I quit, and I think it was cheaper to smoke! Im not sure which are more addictive, cigarettes, or orange tic tacs.

I started chewing Skoal to quit smoking.  Worked for me, except trying to quit chewing was even worse!!!  Now I have 1 smoke every 2 to 4 weeks, depends on how the day is going at work.  It really sucks when you first start trying to quit though.   It's suprising how much better you will be able to breathe and stop coughing in a couple years.  If you can hang in there on the muskie waters, then you can get through this.   GOOD LUCK!!!!!

47 hours and 55 minutes without a lung dart and the best advice my friend Ralphie can think of as motivation is: Become like Kojak, shave your head and start sucking on lolipops!!!!!!
You're killing me Ralphie! And remember the goal of the Fox Tourney Series (for us at least) is just to do better than Luke_Chinewalker and Boro. If we beat them, then I'll be happy.

Slamr how you doing? Don't give up now, you will need that extra lung capacity for the young/old challange. Stick with it and life will be better in the long run. Does the new Mrs.Slamr smoke? If not than all the more reason to quit. Nothing worse than smokers morning breath, I have never smoked but dated some that did. Keep it up pal, you can kick those lung rockets. Think of the baits you can buy with the money you save, instead of cigs you can buy baits, one carton=2 baits.

SLAMR-

Good to see you quit! The fish are liking it too! They were getting sick and tired of you not saving them a drag everytime you threw your butt into the lake.

Heres a ? for the smokers. I am not against people wanting to smoke, but why do those that smoke have to leave their butts all over the roads sidewalks and lakes. Why cant they be disposed of in a pop can, ash try or other. I am sure you dont get done smoking at home that you dont flick them onto your couch, carpeting or floor? Just a thought! Isnt it pathetic to drive on an off ramp and get to the top to look around and see all the cigs all over the ground, Mother Nature sure isnt happy! I am done, no more soap box.

mind over matter.....mind over matter thats all it is . Should be getting easier. Stop thinking about smoking and start thinking about all the great stuff you'll be able to do when your 80 yrs old. Instead of laying in a box 6 feet deep!!

Keep the faith!!!

Good Luck Slamr.

I am glad to see everyone supporting you; hopefully that will make things easier. As for me, I smoke about a carton a week (some times more). I figure, if you can make it, then maybe I can too. I crushed the last one out just before midnight last night.

People say to take it "One day at a time". To me right now, that sounds like 20 pounds of BS in a 10 pound bag. I need to take things "5 minutes at a time!" if I have any hope at making it.

Good luck and keep me posted!

I smoked for 15 years was up to 3 1/2 packs A day the last couple years. Three years ago I quit cold turkey the best advice I can give is to stop counting hours and minutes that only makes it worse. Try not to think about feeling like crap just decide you are done smoking and get over it 99.9% of it is mental good luck.

Ah yes it seems like just yesterday I quit, its been 2 years ,and still I keep having those dreams , you know the ones . You wake up in the morning and ask your self did I smoke one.

Then with all the money you save , there's Mcdonalds and burger king and so on. Food seems to taste so much better now. It's been tasting about 30lbs better for me .

Good luck dude
