It is getting close to time to replace my cover. I have a 21 foot bass style boat. There has been allot of advances in covers over the last 10 years. My rigs sits outside all summer, sun, rain, wind, etc...I need a cover that will stand up to it all but doesn't weigh in at 100 lbs. Suggestions? Thanks, Jake

Check out Shoremaster Fabric. They make some really nice covers and have a bunch of different fabrics to choose from.

I picked one these up this year. If you are ok with a non custom fit this is a great cover for the price! My old Sunbrella custom fit cover was over $900, and I just did not have that kind of $$.

Shoremaster has many, many boats measured and patterns made, and make a great cover. If you have any issues, they warranty their product for several years, too. If you want special reinforcement at locations of devices, just let them know and they'll take of that too. I've sold them in a former life, plus now rely on it for my Warrior 208 XRS.

I'm not sure what your spending limit is or how long you plan to keep the boat, but there is little doubt that a custom cover will eventually pay for itself, especially if you plan to tow the rig with it on. Gordy Keiser at Midstate upholstry in Wisconsin Rapids, made and amazing cover for my Ranger tiller. It's the Ranger style with the strap strung through, connecting in the back, with one belly strap. Not to toot his horn too loudly, but Gordy is getting a reputation for being one of the better boat cover fabricators in the midwest. Now, if you don't want to spend upwards of $750 on a cover, one of the pre made covers as mentioned above, should suit your needs. If I was buying one today on my budget, I'd be looking at the pre-fabs. If money was not an option and I wanted the best, I'd call Gordy.

I never tow with the cover on. Don't believe in it for a bass boat. Seen far more damage done with a cover on than off when towing. Thanks for the replies I will check them out.

Agreed, I wouldn't tow with mine on either as I learned years ago it is terrible on the finish. I read your question as looking for a cover that could stand up to 'it all', hence my suggestion. Good luck in the search.

Guys,
I got a 2 piece, snap on Tonneau/Moring cover , that is custom made and doubles as a travel cover....... The first one lasted 8 yrs and I'll pick up the new one up next month........ About $700. Fits tight and looks great....Keeps the dirt and road grime out of the boat and the Dew/rain off of the seats.

The cover I had gotten with the boat was to my design and has lasted for 13 years. A gal that drank a bit too much on weekdays in MO made it. I had heard she was top of the line in quality. She was you just had to wait for the sober days before she would work on them. I got the cover a month or more after I picked up my new boat! Ha Ha
Yes that was in a DRY county too!

The Smartech cover is vented, ratchet strapped, and padded for towing. No issues for me.
