I also wonder what up with them. I saw at the Milwaukke sport show
but was not willing to part with $16.00 for one. I did notice the short top arm and it had a nice finish on the lead but I think I'll make my own for that price. If there is something special about it I missed please inform me. it did look nice and was well made I'll say that.

Don I am with you on the price. The short arm makes it somewhat weed free, I am going to cut down the arms on a few of my spinnerbaits. I got a killer deal on a batch of Vern's from the man himself, I have the jig to spin the wire so it will be easy. This is not a rip on the grinder just want to see what the style does, short arm: weed free, we will see.

Gentlemen,

The Dick Pearson Grinder suggested retail prices are as follows:

¾ oz Little G - $11.95
1.5 oz Grinder - $12.95
2 oz Grinder - $13.50
3 oz Super G - $14.95

The Grinder was designed by Dick, himself, and yes, the primary attributes that set this bait apart are the shorter arm and heavy gauge wire. This is a presentation specific tool that was designed specifically for the grinding technique. The baits will also perform very well when used like a “regular” spinnerbait. The Little G is great for burning over the tops of weeds, and the Super G works very well as a deep slow roller, and exceptionally well as a trolling spinnerbait. Couple all this with a very high quality hand tied silicone skirt with some feather and tinsel thrown in and you have the Grinder series of spinnerbaits. All competitively priced as well.

If you have any other questions, feel free to contact drop me an e-line at [email protected]

Thanks!

MDH thanks for the input, I didn't get any help at the show. What makes them weed free? Are they weed free for the most part? I am looking for spinners that I can run through the weeds about 4 to 6 foot down. I have not found any that will run for any length of time in this milfoil. I would like to try the grinder but ran out of money at the Slammer Booth. Any one try these baits in the slop???????

Mike,

Sorry I missed you at the show…I was splitting time between Kolar, Pastika’s and Guides Choice. Oh well…

As far as the what make the Grinders RELATIVELY weedless. It is the short arm, coupled with the stiff wire, while utilizing the grinding technique that makes these baits work. The grinding technique is described in Dick’s book “Muskies on the Shield” as well as in a recent In-Fisherman article. Basically just cast out, point your rod directly at the bait and start reeling. If you do get hung up, pull steadily back (not up or to the side) and most of the time the bait will pull free. Not completely weedless…but pretty close.
The bait also is designed to run true (upright) which allows it to slither through the junk a little better.

…as far as the DREADED milfoil goes. The sloppy algae covered stuff we have down here in the chain…nothing can get through easily. I’m assuming Peewaukee’s milfoil is sloppy too… I’ve only been able to effectively penetrate the top third or half of a dense milfoil bed. The major problem being the slime and overall density of the stuff really makes it tough to work through real deep. If you can find clean weeds, you should be able to get even deeper…

hope this helps, I know the milfoil is a tough nut to crack…but there ARE fish in there deep.

MDH thanks for the reply. The slop we have is not as bad as the green slime at the chain, I will have to pick up a couple and see how they work. If they do what I need then the price is not a issue, thanks again.
