A friend of mine borrowed my Okuma telescoping rod and liked it. His wife asked me to find one for him for Christmas. Where to go?

What model Okuma rod do you use and why do you like it? Any issues with the telescoping function?

Thorne's carries them, and Rollie and Helens.

Smokies had some the last time I was there...give John a call and see if they are still stocking Okuma's.

Smokey's always had a good selection when I was there.I have all the telescopic models and my favorites are the 8'6"XH and the 9'3''XH.I have three seasons on these rods and have had no problems.

Gotta call Smokeys on Pewaukee Lake. 8.5 telescoping XH is the way to go.
I really, really want to drop some major coin on a rod, but can't find one that, for the money is that much better than the Okuma 8.5 XH. And the telescoping feature is nice because they fit in the smaller rod locker in my Ranger. Lifetime warranty is nice too.

+1 I have three 8'6" XH and can't think of why I would spend more coin.

I have seen them also at the Chicago and Milwaukee musky shows in the past few years. The 8'6''XH was always my favorite rod until I started using the 9'3''XH,now this is usually my go to rod as is seams a little more versatile than the 8'6XH,although it still gets plenty of use.But if I had the choice of only one,id go with the 9'3''XH.

I originally bought one for my wife.
Then I used it a little bit. Loved it.
Now I have three in the boat. I use them, my wife uses them and my guests use them. Just great rods for the money. As long as you get the XH.

I've heard so much about the longer one, though, that I may need to pick one of those up as well!
