| I am going to try and learn the Big V in 2014. Is there any guides you recommended? They don't have to be the top of the line guys because I know most of the guys are most likely booked already. Any guys who do it part time, or young up and coming guys that I should get in touch with?

| Andrew Judnick. He is a young up and comer who fishes the east end primarily. He has openings and I'd take him over any of the well known guides on that lake. Look at his reports from last season.

Just an idea but on the website dedicated to Jason Hamernick's auction fund raiser there are several guides on there that may be able to help you out. May be a good chance to help someone out and hire the guide of your choice. |

| All the names mentioned above will put you on fish... that bein said... Bob Benson is the guy id call first. Outta nowhere, he helped me out on the water once, helped make sure my PB swam away alive and healthy. Thanks Bob.

| I've fished with Kirby Budrow, who posted above, for years. He pretty much brought me in to the sport and showed me all I know. He loves fishing muskies more than anyone I know - lives for it. The knowledge, skill, and instincts he's developed, especially in the last few years, amaze me. Don't be afraid to give him a try, or at least call to discuss it.
My first time on Vermilion was with him and we caught four from 44 - 52" in one night. |

| It just depends what your looking for, and what you want to pay. If you want success and to learn the lake, you need to fork out the cash and hire a guy who fishes the lake EVERYDAY and knows exactly what it going on. Or hire someone who is in good contact with those guides that fish everyday. Lots of guides on the V these days its seems like. Sometimes finding someone who fishes the lake a lot and has good contacts is a good way to go as well. Some pretty impressive names being discussed right now. Even some of the older guides that have been up there for many years can give you good knowledge. BUT, if your looking for a younger dude with lots of energy who puts in the hours and has the info, that is most likely going to be more present and frequent information....Just depends what you want. |

| I've been know to fish the lake once or twice  If your going to do it, do it right. Hire Luke Ronnestrand or Bob Benson. They are up there pretty much year round. They are great guys, and great fisherman. Not only will they put you on fish, but the tactics and things you will learn is what separates them from most. Not just a "guide" but also a teacher of the sport. PM me if you want to get something set up with either of them, I can get you in touch with them. |

The Young Bucks with little experience on this Lake might be full of energy and pee and vinegar and only been fishing for 5-7 yrs and maybe when you're not working or going to College,... that's Cool..... But the guys that have been here for a long time and are out there from May till Ice up FULL Time is who I would go with ..... Knowledge, and Wisdom ,Always makes for a better Muskie Hunt.... Here's the Best guys up here:
Luke, matt Snyder, Swenson, Steve Amundson, Bob Benson, Borovsky, Paul Pollick,
Hamernick, Ben Olsen...... These guys KNOW the lake, But more importantly,.... They know the Habbits of the fish, and the Muskies prey......
Maybe I'll quit a good paying job and start guiding,.........I should, cause I see 1 or 2 of these guys every time I go out !

| I've fished with Josh Borovsky for 7 years, and he's the best on that lake. He's a pleasure to fish with, and has that "fish" sence and always knows where they are. |

Someone off the beaten path who really produces and will fish until you beg him to go in is Jeremy Johnson---Whispering Winds Resort....(West End) best rates on the lake...
Also Steve A.. mentioned above---produces every year---Spring Bay--West End
Both of these guys live on the lake--love the lake-love to fish--love the people they fish with---
I consider both to be friends and both are really great guys!!
