now that the whopper plopper has been out long enough for a good trial what do you guys think. to me the wp sounds great in the water but i still seem to have better luck with the tr.

Make sure you look at a Crusader too. Nice baits, through wire and foam injected bodies. Tail makes a really nice loud POP.

I like both. sounds are a little different, so i guess it is good to have both in case you got things tuned in to a specific sound on top water. of course the top raider is a long time favorite for many

whopper plopper is definitely a well designed lure with advantages in the whirlygig that doesn't permanently deform. Also has really high quality hooks on there i noticed. Also casts farther than any other lure in my box. And as long as you dont hit anything hard with them, they are quite durable.

called up a lot of muskies with it this last summer, Caught 3 19-20 inch largemouth on the wp this summer too, that was a treat.

In the 3 seasons that I've had my one Whopper Plopper (red horse sucker) I've caught more muskies on it than I have caught on all 3 TR's in 7 seasons. The TR's do catch a lot of largemouth bass on LSC, especially at night.

I would equate it to throwing 13's, 10's or 8 blades...Sometimes one is going to out produce the other; its up to the fisherman to figure out what is the play. I throw More Big Mama baits and old wood Pace Makers than anything but I still keep Whopper Ploppers and top Raiders in my boat...sometimes they work when others don't... They are all quality products...

x2 on the crusader.
The mini is killer too.
Adding a little weight to the front hook cures the roll.

The Topraider is tuneable. You can make it as loud or quiet as you want. So if I had to have only one it would be the Topraider.

I have Big mama's, Top raiders, whopper ploppers and the crusader. I seem to get bigger fish with the big mama, but more fish with the whopper plopper.

Im a bit bias but I say go with a Siren! Between the two you mentioned I would say aTop Raider. I like being able to bend and cup the metal props to tune them the way you want.
