Saw a couple of permanent houses this a.m on my way back from Vermilion, one on Half Moon Lake and one on the small lake just a bit further south. Was going to drill some holes this morning on V, but decided to get on the road due to the freezing rain and snow that began falling. Reports on another website say 5" on Big Bay. Brian

I saw the same house on half moon on my way back from vermillion yesterday. North side of frazier had about 4-5 inches, hoping this snow storm doesn't impede ice formation too much. Hoping to get the four-wheelers out on big v prior to christmas!

MH22, seeing reports of minus 20 this weekend, but not sure how much that will matter under the blanket of 15" of fresh snow! I'm ready for the ice season as well. New Otter and Vex FL28 needs testing! B

The big part of leech lake has 7-9"of good ice 4wheeler sled travel is good and the bite has been very good7-12ft of water Walker Bay may be a real problem all winter now with only 2" of new ice and 10-15" of snow predicted that won't help things at all that's the latest from the leech area.later

With the forecast as cold as it is suppose to be over the next 10 days (sub zero highs in northern MN)..anyone know if more ice will form considering some lakes will have an insulation of 6-12 inches of snow on them?

My guess is that there will be some slush in some areas between the snow and ice. It might be touch and go for a while. Areas that have more inches of ice than snow might be okay.
