Here in NW Pa. we have over a foot of snow on the ground, snowed Tuesday starting at 9am and still snowing at 3am. No freeze up yet. Capt. Larry Jones reports 8 inches of snow and is breaking out the snow shovel in Buffalo, Ny. to shovel the launch ramp off.

SBH is in south buffalo... Tonawanda is in a different weather pattern... 4 inches maybe on rt 5 south of buffalo... There's over a foot on the ground east of springville... if only the launch were there.

Your right I went by the SBH at 1:30 pm and only about 4" there, we could get a little more snow tonight.Even with a little bit of snow if you don't shovel and salt the ramp it will be a sheet of ice after launching and pulling trailer dropping water over the snow.Last year we had 4-wheel drive vehicles in tandom to pull boats out of the same ramp, NFTA pulled the launch dock the next day.We will get a warm up outside yet in coming days, not over until Dec 15th in Canadian waters of the Upper Niagara River and both sides of the Lower Niagara River.

Almost two feet of snow here and still snowing in NW PA. The lake effect snow machine has hardly stopped since Tuesday. I have not got out to check the launches and shore fishing would be tough. Time to put on the snowshoes get tracking Coyotes.

Stan its Friday afternoon the sun has been out all day so far, temps in the high 20's slight wind chill 4mph. wind. Five day forecast has no snow or rain for my area forecasted. The main roads are in great shape . secondary and gravel roads are not as good but passable. This area can become crazy with the lake effect snow machine till Lake Erie freezes up. I have over two feet on the plateau where I live. Hope this helps and have a safe trip... Be careful.

Six boats were out from the SBH on Lake Erie in Buffalo, NY today, I did not hear of any fish being caught.Water temp was down to 40 degrees behind the walls and was like a dead sea, the deeper out into Lake Erie you went the warmer the water got, at 45 ft the water temp was up to 43.5 degrees and bait fish & big hooks were directly on bottom.Launch ramp was a challenge sliding going in and pulling out, also breaking a 1/4" of ice on the surface in the SBH.Back out tomarrow morning!

East end of LSC is locked up no way onto the water down there. Belle River marina is also locked up with ice. Not sure about getting on the lake from the mouth of the Thames as there was reports of pack ice the other day and the river had ice flowing down it in Chatham during the week. Maybe lucky to get out from the Detroit river only?

I was starting to think it was now its warmed up a bit and I found a creek that has a warm water outlet flowing into it and apparently muskie. Used to fish it many years ago and never realized there were muskie in it. Doubt the boat will see anymore water other than snow until spring though.

Fly rod it!! Streamer attached to supple, knot-able wire and some nice strips on your retrieve.

Careful, it just might turn you around!! *G*

Woodieb8, Dave Martin was out on the Lower Niagara River in 11 degree air temp with brown water at 35 degrees today, no action.I thaught he was hardcore till I was passing the NFTA Small Boat Harbor durring this afternoons snow bluzzard and seen headlights pointing crooked on the boat launch.I got off Route 5 and went to investigate. This Oldtimer, his car, his boat & trailer, could not get back up the launch.I pulled him out with my truck in 4-wheel drive low through a total white out and 6" of snow.Yes, he was Perch fishing in a total snow blizzard with 25 mph SW winds! He offered me 5 perch for the tow! Took me an hour to get from Buffalo home to Tonawanda in a complete white out.The only difference between Davevand the Oldtimer being hardcore is Dave will be on the water tomarrow even if he has to bring the snow blower with him!
