Location: Waukee, IA | I am thinking about getting one of the new Daiwa Lexa's 400 series that are coming out. Not sure which one to get and would like some help deciding.
I already have a Revo 50 5.4:1 ratio and love it for all around fishing. Question is does it do the job well enough to pull DCG all day? If so, I would think about getting the higher speed Lexa at 6.3:1 for gliders, pull baits, topwaters, etc.
If not, then I was thinking about getting the Powr P for big blades and slow topwaters, maybe pounders? and continue to use the revo for most everything else.
Ideas from you gents or any other options I should be considering? I am not willing to go past that $250 mark for the most part. Wife would think I am crazeeee!!!
Thanks in advance! |

| IMO If you want to throw Cowgirls all day you do NOT want to use the Revo's double 8's yes 10's NO...
If the lexa 400 is anything like the 300 I think it will do what you ask and then some.....MIke |

| You can pick up some new/slightly used Tranx for ~$350 if you really look. That said, the Lexa 400 is very intriguing. |

Location: Waukee, IA | So, which one would you be recommending? My first instinct is the 5.3 model for DCG??
Or would the 6.6 models pull the DCG's ok????
300 EXO PT Models
Model Gear Ratio I.P.T Retrieve Line Capacity Max Drag Bearings Weight
EX300HPT 7.3:1 35" Right 200 yds. / 20 lb. 18 lbs. 6+1 7.5 oz.
EX300PPT 5.3:1 25" Right 200 yds. / 20 lb. 22 lbs. 6+1 7.5 oz.
EX300SPT 6.6:1 32" Right 200 yds. / 20 lb. 20 lbs. 6+1 7.5 oz.
EX301HPT 7.3:1 35" Left 200 yds. / 20 lb. 18 lbs. 6+1 7.5 oz.
EX301SPT 6.6:1 32" Left 200 yds. / 20 lb. 20 lbs. 6+1 7.5 oz.
Tolle141: Tranx are out of my league financially and they sound too big for my hands. Plus, I don't like the forearm grip method that I would probably need to employ to fish with that reel.

| I was tossed between the lexa 300 and 400 but a combination of finances, time I spend on the water, and the fact that I need a new rod and a new battery for my outboard..... I will be getting the 300 for next season.
Now I know that the 400 is smaller than the tranx but it is considerably larger than the 300 (there's a video on YouTube that shows them side by side). I haven't held the 400 but it may be approaching the tranx size where it could be difficult for some to comfortably palm.....again this is what I think from holding a 300 and seeing the larger 400 next to it.
I think they are both nice reels, as far as gear ratio.... Would you get a power handle or a paddle handle. |

| The 5.3 model I think would be the best. Thats what I have. It is just a tad bigger than a bass reel |

Here is a pretty good initial review on the Lexa 400. I'm sure as time goes on and more people get their hands on this reel we will continue to find out more information on it. |
