Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Sailfish, 'Best' is relative to the day and the water. There are days when I seem to have forgotten everything I know about how to find the big girls (muskies, here, muskies!) and others when I seem to trip across them. I have ALWAYS said that big fish will be caught where big fish are by the anglers there fishing for them and spending the necessary time on the water. The skill level pretty well levels off at a constant when one spends as much time as the aglers you mention here do on the water, and the rest becomes promotion and publicity, a Chevy VS Ford VS Dodge thing. I know someone who describes it perfectly: "The sun don't shine on the same dog's hinder everyday." Any tournament Pro can tell you it is expected that everyone but ONE will lose on any given day. It is, however, pretty cool when the sun shines on the hinder attached to this poster. Every once in awhile, even a blind squirrel... |

Location: God's Country......USA..... Western Wisconsin | Very well put Stever, I have had days where I am the Champ as well as those when I am the Chump. The main thing is that you keep on pitchin'. The only ones that are not great fishermen are the ones that quit.I trully believe that all of us Muskie nuts are all the best on one day or another. |

Location: Greenfield, WI | Muskie Fishing is in its own way like many outdoor pursuits. Being in the right place at the right time, using the right bait (Slammer Baits...subliminal message inserted for effect!) can make each of us experts for the moment by just catching one fish. Maybe the fish of a lifetime will be the result of just one lucky cast.
However over the long haul, any of those three are consistant stars. They combine experience, quality time on quality water, and a little dose of luck which never hurts anyone.
Most of us will likely never have the opportunity to combine the factors which help those three consistantly produce. |

| "think and hunt whitetails like a predator, because that`s exactly what you are." Gene Wensel, 1980 words from another great sportsman in a different field but I beleive his point holds true in many different ways inthat if you do your homework,be persistant you can accomplish your goals and be the absolute best you can be.So who is the best, sometimes it`s Joe,Pete,Doug,Steve,Dick and so on.One thing is for sure they all do there homework and are very persistant! Location: north central wisconsin | I agree with what Sworral said, and the others too. Though I don't have one person whom I regard as "all time" great, there is one person who taught me much of the art/discipline that helped me find/develope my own.
