HI,
just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for suicks with broken noses? A couple of my favorites now have chipped noses and do not run the same. any suggestions to help fix this problem would be appreciated
thanks

Sand the nose back evenly, and adjust the tail to compensate for the change. Coat the nose with epoxy as a preventative from damage under tough use.

Hi.Take a thin spinner blade(color of your choice),slot it for the eye, bend it over the nose, screw it down and you may be surprised at the new lure you have. Most work well and you no longer need worry about rocks.

Thanks,
appreciate the information will definetly try both out.
one more question, What if the nose has a rather large chunck missing which might cause the sanding option to go down the drain? Just fill it with epoxy and try to level off? Hopefully something good will come from my expirmentaion and I might get a suick with a mean wobble or action!
thanks again

p.s. DickP do you have a picture you might be able to attach? what size screw do you use to hold the blade down, and do you just srew right throught the blade or pre-drill a hole?

Kly, If you have chunks missing you can get some Durhams rock hard putty(rock set you mix with water)to fill in holes or missing parts, sand it down, drill it,expoxy it,paint it,works excellent for repairing wooden baits and is rather durable to boot.On my wooden baits I make the repair, let dry(good)sand, paint then expoxy over everything.I have had extremly good luck using this process. i use the thick epoxy like JB weld, and build the nose back up. I definitely will try Dick's method next time.

Hi.My wife does the repairs and shes not here but I know she drills a small hole first. The screws are very small as well. Before screwing the blade down she 'forms'it with a small hammer which leaves marks that seem to give off even more flash.
Neat trick but would have to give Mark Windels the credit for it.He told me about it probably 20 years ago.As far as I know he still does it as a standard feature on one the the jerk baits he makes-think its called his 'Musky Hunter'.
Hope it works out for you.Works better for us on the 10 inch models.

Hi,
Last question, Dick do you fill the in the missing chuncks of wood with a filler or simply put the blade right over the top?
thanks again for all the responses

Since the cats out of the bag, try using copper. it's very easy to work with. Bend and shape a nose cone to fit the configuration of your Suick. You can attach it on with either epoxy or small screws. ( It should fit like a shoe )

Also if you leave a pocket on the under side of the nose cone with several holes in it, it will fill with water and the nose of the Suick will rise that much slower.( Experiment with what works for you for the time of the year )

Hope this helps.
