Location: Alsip, IL | Hey guys I've done 99% of my muskie fishing in the UP and I'm looking to venture out to fish some different bodies of water to broaden my horizon. I've never been up to Pewaukee and a read a lot of good things. I'm from Chicago and just looking for some fishable populations with a realistic shot at a 50 inch class fish that are close enough to take weekend trips. Is Pewaukee that good of a lake? also is my 14' 6" Tracker going to be enough out there with waves and that? thanks guys |

Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | fishable population? yes....realistic shot at 50" fish? There' one caught here and there amongst the hundreds and hundreds that fish it, but certainly wouldn't go there expecting much of a chance of that.
It is a standard stocked urban fishery, has some moments here and there but all in all gets hit very hard and one big chunk of the lake is a shallow mess of choked out weeds. Not a terrible choice at all for a day trip but I would keep expectations in check |

| Pewaukee offers quantity, not quality as you desire. Lots of fish in the 34-42 inch range, though.
If you want quality of fish, try Oconomowoc or Okauchee in the area. Bigger fish in those lakes, but not anywhere near the density of Pewaukee.

Location: Alsip, IL | Thanks guys. If given the option would it be a better decision to drive a little further and fish the Madison Chain? |

| Wabesa on the Madison Chain would be a nice trip for you. Nice launch and you would not have to worry about getting blown off with your boat. Pressure would be less and the Mad Chain is a great fishery. |

Location: Oregon, WI | Water is low on waubesa now. Be careful when exiting channel from launch. Keep her trimmed up until you hit the break. |

| Your call on how far you want to drive. Madison has good musky lakes too. |
