I'm planning on heading out to Tonka on Saturday, I was wondering if anybody had any water temps and/or reports? I will post how we did.

I was out there yesterday, water temps were 46 to 47. Had one rip, that was it.

I went out on Saturday with my wife, and only had one lazy follow. We ended up cutting our trip short after a boat went flying by us within 10 feet, and ripped the rod out of my wife's hand and into the lake. We both nearly jumped out of the boat. Confronted the guy and his female passenger, and he said he didn't see us out of his plastic canopy. We were just happy to come out of this alive, and decided to call it a day. Only on Minnetonka...

Surprised the crazies showed this late in the year. I haven't had that close of a call but I've been nearly beached by boats going 40 mph through no wakes.

You should have called him in. I bet he was heavily intoxicated... Those jerks are all over that lake.

Monday there were 2 Minnetonka hero's riding jetskies around, they were nice enough to circle around us once or twice. Such nice gentlemen, wish them nothing but the best!

Ditto! There's reg # on the side of boats for a reason. Wow! I still can't believe that he caught your wifes line and ripped the rod into the water! Crazy! Hopefully the line will take out his prop seal and karma'll get him.

Might hit it this Saturdee and will report notables.
On a semi-related note to this thread, I used to fish the Wednesday niter bass tourneys on Tonka that started in Spring Park Bay back in the day. During one such event, our number was called and we roared off towards the main lake. As we were setting down to putz thru the narrows, a well known regular of the local bass'n scene that will remain unnamed here blew by us and buzzed the narrows at around 40 mph.
Needless to say, the countless people fishing that channel from shore were none-to-pleased and took it out on us in short order.
Would have preferred the name calling over the dodging of cans, half full big gulps, rocks, and other asst garbage they threw at us while navigating thru.
Karma musta kicked in cuz we didn't see him at weigh in.

Hiya,

Was out for a few hours today, from 1:00 to 5:00. Buddy managed to put one in the boat about 36". One small northern followed up a while later, but that was it.

Fished a few different spots, lots of little pods of baitfish down 5 feet to 13 feet or so.
Water temps in the area we were in ranged from 40 to 41.

Gonna be cold the next couple of days...
