Location: Tennessee | I used one for the first time today and I love the rod, but hated the trigger on the reel seat. I couldnt find a good way to use it, with my hand ahead of it, I can't manipulate my spool/release and with it back my fingers where just awkward gripping it. Really disappointed me because I was wanting to get one of the new Premier 9fters but apparently on the XH am stuck with the same handle. |

Location: Gilberts IL/Rhinelander WI | I love the new reel seat and actually had a custom predator made with it. I wish my top and tail had it. I put my whole hand ahead of it. I have some big paws though. |

| I hate it too. I originally had a 400TE on the rod and just couldn't get used to it. Felt like I was going to loose the rod on every cast. With a Revo Toro 60 NaCl mounted on the rod it is noticeably better. But switching between rods that have a traditional trigger is still a pain. As much as I like the blank, I am not using it as much as I would like due to the trigger. Thornes told me that they had replaced the reel seat on numerous Big Nasty rods. I believe they said they were getting $60'ish for the conversion. |

I like the new trigger. I'd convert some of my older traditional trigger seats for the new style if I could. I'm nowhere near a Thornes. I'm surprised they can do it for $60. I thought you'd have to strip off all the guides to put a new reel seat on. I thought you had to replace a reel seat by sliding it down from the tip of the rod. I guess there's some way of doing it from the butt??? I clearly don't know much about rod building. |

| I hate the new one. I have an old one and feel much more comfortable with the old one. I am dreading Fall and feel like if I got a backlash with a Pounder the entire setup would end up in the lake. If anyone wants to swap a new one for an old one please PM me. It would be best if you were near MI or OH. |

| I'm a huge fan, makes the Figure 8 transition easier which is always a positive IMO. I built my H-2" Predator with it, awesome. All my rods going forward will have this reel seat. |

Maybe I missed it... but what exactly is different about the trigger on the new St. Croix rods?
The trigger is moved back and actually angled back as well. If you look at the handle pictures on the St Croix LT site you can see. It has a very different feel, that is for sure |

| I agree with those few above...hack the trigger off and file it down to a nub...I have done it to all of my legends...much more comfortable overall. Can anyone explain why they feel they need a trigger anyway ? They are as useless as **** on a bull ! |
