MuskieFIRST will arrive early Thursday due to a scheduling issue, and reports will begin on our arrival.
This one is going to be a good time. The attached image is the only one in the Outing Forum discussion about the Fall outing...medicinal purposes, I am certain.

I stay on the island a few weeks ago. I hope Steve tells those there, that the tank next to the cabin is not for holding suckers. At 104 degrees they won't last long, but may even be done overnight.

Templeton has some mighty history in the state of Iowa, it is said that it was Capones' whisky of choice and as the legend goes, he even had the stuff ran from the small town in Iowa during prohibition. It was originally only sold in Iowa and to a few select spots in the US that all had ties to Capone: Chicago, New York and San Fransico. Im not sure if that is still the case or not.
It is quite tasty enjoyed with a little Sprite or 7up. More hardcore drinkers than myself enjoy it on the rocks.

My crew enjoys a bottle of Templeton Rye on our annual fall outing as well. Easily the best thing that ever came out of Iowa. Not easy to procure, extremely easy to drink.
Apparently I am a hardcore drinker, I would never mix something so smooth with anything but ice.

No fish that I know of yesterday. A few were seen and a few bumps but no hooks. We have located Solid 50! that wants to eat we are going to feed her in a hour or so. The Tempelton is still sealed. It is very quite out on the deck right now but hard to see the key board. For those that did not make this trip you are missing it Great weather , fishing and great bunch of people where.

Congrats to Rudy on the 46er I think he is trying to win this thing again. Last nite was a gas at the fire , lots of stories and a battle with Bills silver bottle( I lost). And Ryan showed us a pic of a 46er that Rudy caught on Eagle lake in 1991. Tonite I think we are all going to gather and watch Dog Hugs Muskie.

It's been a little slow for Uncle Louie and I so far this trip as we have raised a few fish but have not boated one yet. Doc Dodge and Grampa James finally raised their 1st fish this morning and seem to have high hopes of lading one(some of us question that). Congrats to Rudy on catching a nice fish to break the ice for the outing this year. The fish should turn on tonight and tomorrow with the weather starting to change. More to come.....

Hammer, that is pretty accurate, but it is more than just legend, it is absolute true story. The commercial store bought version is now more accessible than just Chi-town and NY. but if you think that is good, you aught to try and find some of the original 'off the record ' batch. Some say the 'real deal' is still being produced somewhere out there in those little rolling hills. And boy is it nice. Funny thing this topic just surfaced on this site again ! Andy, if I manage to make it up there yet this fall ...you just bring the ice !
Gerome, you never came down to the cabin for a taste !?

Yea I must agree Capones stuff is way better than the on the shelf stock.... I always have a little of the good stuff tucked away....As a former resident of Carroll Co Iowa I can attest the real Templeton can still be had if you know the right people....

Mission accomplished on the fish fry front. Lost a nice muskie I had hooked in the beak with a Violent Strike, saw one more, caught a few nice Pike. Great day on Vermilion. Quite a few of the guys are out on the water still.
It was sorta windy put there, and the evening ended with a T Storm. The fire is already roaring down there.

Gotta have a fish fry, and folks frown on frying up a muskie. Rudy reported another Muskie shedding the hooks before hitting the net. A couple boats are still out.

The Outing was a blast, those who couldn't make it missed a great time. Near everyone had muskies on, they were really good at slipping the hooks this week. Big Pike and good numbers of nice Pike kept the interest up, next year we will have a big Pike division with a really good first place prize.
Rudy's 46 took home first; a free stay at next year's Fall outing, a Suick Weagle, some Spring Bay Swag, and the traveling trophy. Louie's 44.5 took second and some nice prizes from Suick, Spring Bay, and MuskieFIRST. Everyone left with some good memories and a nice prize, too.
The lodging, Spring Bay's legendary hospitality, the fish dinner at the Landing for the Awards ceremony, and the rain and wind were all extremely cool today. The fireside evening 'passtime' was lacking G Rome and a couple folks who couldn't make it this year, but still were worth losing sleep over for sure.
Thanks to everyone attending ( the company was outstanding) and we'll see you next year at the Spring Bay outing.
Feel free to add your images from the trip to this thread!

Trip was a blast, lost my only ski but caught big pike. Trip home is not over, driving down 94 in heavy traffic inner seal said bye and soon trailer axle was smoking, got it pulled over before wobbling tire went (barely) flat bed tow truck couldn't get one tire on trailer due to narrow shoulder (boat almost rolled). Now at hotel drinking waiting to get trailer repaired in morning. All in all very lucky a good samaritan pulled next to me to yell smoke was billowing (wind sucked it behind boat couldn't see it). Hotel bar has jamison so I'll survive LOL. Still a good trip, congrats to Rudy (saw the traveling trophy still didn't travel). Thanks to all who made the trip fun. Bill

Everyone at the outing had a great time as always. Big thanks to Steve and his family for running a top notch resort!!! I missed my last years fishing partner G-Rome as he was trying to win the PMTT. My guide this year(Louie) predicted poor guide service and he was good to his word(lol). I am already looking forward to seeing everyone again next year and trying to de-throne Rudy and hopefully see pics of Ryan with a fish in his hands rather than hooks...:). See everyone next year.
