Hey all

I have had success working baits close to the bottom later in the year. I'm looking for a crankbait that will get down deep fast and is good for grinding rocks on the bottom. Must be floating so it can back out of snags too. 10 inch jakes, and believers haven't done the trick, I need something DEEP. What do you suggest?

Thanks.

we build a bait that will go 29 down with 40ft of line out for Detroit river. you need a very good dipsey rod and braid.

Deep is a general term. How deep is deep?

Slammers are plastic, and will take a beating. Will hold up better than wood will in the rocks. Check out slammers deep divers...

Casting. It'd be nice to go 15 feet or more.

It's not a crankbait, but how about a spinnerbait like a Pearson Grinder? Goes deep, willow puts off a milder thump, generally weedless/rockless. I've had great success slow rolling it

Hose bait flat shad. Super steep dive curve and is built to grind rocks.

I agree Ernie's get down and so do Hose Shads (pull pretty good), but another one is the 7" deep slammer. Big action from a smaller bait.

I could be wrong but, think that you are going to struggle to find a large floating crankbait that hits 15' for any significant amount of the cast. The deepest divers in my box tend to get to around 12' and then start coming back up. DDD's, depthraiders, krushers, ernies, deep slammers, Sebile minnow with the long lip will get you close. Extra long casts help. A count down depthraider though could be the ticket...just get a good lure retriever to help with snags. I am interested to see what others come up with...good luck!

Baker Bait shads cast to 16' and are only 4" long.

hooker g&m shad get down to 13'-15'. hooker jr get down to about 13' are so.

danny wades if you can find any get down 13'-15'.

crane 606 get down to 13' and the 607 get down do 15'.

i have some believers that have some metal lips extension on them and they will dig to 20' on the cast. need a few more done.
