Have a bunch of them and I think they are great lures. I usually crank them down and I may let them back their way out or float up over cover. I noticed yesterday that I have one that is actually less than neutral buoyant and it will actually sink slowly. I know there have been some slight changes over the years - are some like this?

I don't use these lures, but its possible that yours may have some water logging issues.

I had one that wasn't water logged and sank slowly right out of the packaging. That was more than 20 yrs ago.

Any wood bait is going to be inconsistant. Some wood is more dense than others. Bagley's was a good choice years ago when Jim Bagley owned the company. The cranks for the last decade or so have been made in China. I would not trust them. Heard too many horror stories on them failing during battles.

Get on board with the new 6 and 7 inch slammers. Very consistant, and hold up well!!!
