I have a 6' St. Croix Premier rod, heavy action and a 7'6 St. Croix Heavy action rod.

I plan on fishing my jerkbaits with the 6', and cranks, bucktails, and most topwater with the 7'6.

I am right to assume I am using the right equipment here.

Let me know your thoughts.

I have found that 7'6" St.croix to work the best for me for the big cranks and medium/large jerks.I use the 8'er for top-water/bucktails and littler cranks and for the smallest stuff I throw that 7'2" is a sweet rod!I can`t get my jerks or big cranks to do what i want with the short heaiver rod. I would concur with Handy but would also like to add that with the real heavy stuff the 6'9" is an awesome stick. It works real well for the Mag Dawgs and heavy gliders.

The 7'6" is a great all around rod, you can throw almost anything with it, but it may be a bit heavy for the smaller tails and 6" twitch baits, I really like my 7'2" for those.

The 7'6" st croix premier MH will work just about anything. I use it for jerkbaits mostly but also cranks, tails, spinnerbaits, ect.

Those two rods should do you ok. You can throw everything with the 7'6" except your bigger jerkbaits and the gliders may work better for you with the 6'er too.
