Has anyone tried soaking bigger chubs like 8-10 inchers for musky? What has been your best way to rig them. Any other success stories with them

Before the dnr cracked down on our favorite baitshop we use to get big ones like that and fish from shore. Just a big treble through the rear dorsal fin, they would come off if hooked through roof of mouth. Caught my first 34 inch muskie, 20 inch + bass, and northern is all I can think of.
They look like the movie jaws pulling the bobber around before taking it under. I prefer the foot tall weighted bobbers though since they seem to yank it under then it under then come back up. With the big Orange round bobbers they seem to play with it more before taking it under.

I've used them one time. Very lively but I had no action on them all day. Then I put on a sucker a got one right away. Not sure if that means anything but its my story

I've done pretty well on them jigging and lindy rigging them along deep break lines in S/E Wisconsin. I used to trap my own before the VHS laws went into effect. Haven't fished with them for awhile now because I refuse to pay $10.99 a dozen for them. I'd rather spend the money on two medium sized suckers.

Wow, have not fished with Chubs in a long time. They were my go to, live bait magic producer for many years in both the spring and fall, for both Musky and Walleye.
Spring time in Wis / Southern Wisconsin, I was primarily jigging them with a large Lindy stand-up jig ,with a modified 3/0 stinger hook attached. Would primarily jig only in a minimum water depth of any were from 18-30 feet of water for Muskie’s. Cold front conditions with this technique was the best.
The Chubs would literally blow away a similarly sized sucker, used in the same presentation all the time.
In the fall, from September thru November in Vilas County, caught many, many a large Walleye. 6-12 pounders. Yes, many 10 pound eye’s in lakes that folks would spin there heads in 360’s when told about with large Chubs.
This started back in the mid 80’s, while fishing some of the Joe Bucher lakes and some of the “smaller” lakes in Vilas Co.
Only reason I have not fished with them, is it was very difficult to get them it seemed like after the mid 90’s.
The River Chubs also seemed to work the best in my experience.

I love those big river chubs, too bad they are hard to find consistently. I've never been able to use them for 'skies but have caught tons of pike on them so I'm sure they'd work well. Super lively and tough minnow... one time I caught 5 pike on the same one before it got ripped in half
