| I am considering one of the following for bulldawgs and similar baits. Not going to throw pounders with it. What do you guys recommend?
9' tackle industries mag heavy 2-8
9'3" okuma evx heavy 2-10

| tackle industries XH or XXH. Both rods will throw the mag lures, but it kind of depends on what else you want to throw with the rod. If your going with medium and mag size swimbaits go with the XH. If mag and pounders go with the XXH. This will be one of the best rods in your boat! |

| I threw hardheads, mag dawgs, and double dawgs for about 6 hours on Saturday in a strong wind and because of my xxh ti my shoulders and back don't hurt at all. I didn't throw any reg sized dawgs but think the rod is capable of throwing them ok, not ideal but not bad. I would get the xxh IMO. My buddy I was fishing with was using an xh ti and the xxh def did a better job of throwing the mag sized rubber, baits around 8 to 10 oz. |

Location: Green Bay, Titletown, WI | If your throwing more mag dawgs than regular dawgs, get the TI xxh. The TI xh will handle them, but it's not ideal. But I would definitely go with the TI. James' customer service is way to good! |

| I'd go TI XXH as well. Also gives you the ability to throw larger rubber later down the road if you are inclined to do so. |

Same here, I can throw smaller lures (depth raider sized stuff) way farther with my TI XXH than I can with my St Croix 7' 6" XH Avid. And I can throw mag dawgs all day without any issues. |

| i definetly wont be throwing any pounders on it. I think im going to go with the xh. im like the rod to load a little more on the cast, and more importantly i like a nice bend when your fighting a fish.
Thanks for the feedback. The only thing i dont like about the okuma is that its telescopic. |

I perfer the TI for casting dawgs because it loads up better. I like the Okama better for jigging Bondy Baits because the rod is lighter & doesn't rip the baits out of the fish's mouth. |

when you say lighter do u mean the action, or the weight of the rod? |

| Tackle Industries rods are a good choice. XH is what I like to use for mag and reg SuperD swimbaits. |

| I own both the okuma 9'3" Xh and the TI 9' xh and xxh. I dont even use my okuma anymore. The TI's are so much lighter in weight that it is very noticeable. Both load up great on the cast and keep a good load while fighting a fish. And the longer butt on them makes casting them so much easier. Like mentioned hardheads/dawgs xh. Pounders/dussas xxh. I know you dont throw pounders so get the xxh the go buy some magnum hardheads from thorne bros you will not be dissapointed. |

The weight of the rod. I think Okuma may be off on the lure weight rating stating 2-10 oz because there's a lot of give in it compared to other Heavy rated rods. |

| How about what do you guys feel is the best rod in the 9' range for throwing mag dawgs. Maybe tackle industries or okuma or not the best choices. thanks for the feedback guys! |

| If money is no object do the H Predator with 2" off the tip. Will toss the Mag sized stuff great as well as just about everything else. I use this rod and absolutely love. Best general purpose stick out there IMO. |

| Thanks guys. I actually own 2 custom predators. i have a h -1" that i have paired with the tranx hg and i love it. thats my bucktails only set up. I also bought a XH that i intended to use for jerkbaits. Personally for me its heavier than i prefer for jerkbaits, and i prefer my two other jerkbait rods over this rod. I would think it would be a perfect dawg rod but its 7'6" and i prefer it to be somewhere around 9' for such applications. I wanted to buy something relatively in expensive for now. I also tried to sell the XH predator on this site and one other and havent gotten any reasonable offers. So the way it looks now im prob just going to fish the 7'6" xh for dawgs. I also have a shortened slingblade that throw em pretty good. Decisions, Decisions |

If you place a telescopic, wertically in a rod holder, and with a bulldawg on, it kolapses when hitting waves. |

Never once had my TI rod colapsed. Love the new design TI has made their rod with . just like a 1 piece rod. |
