The "head cement" I've been using is by wapsi and also one that says component systems. Can be found at Fleet Farm, Gander, LPO, Hagen's and I'm sure plenty of other tackle places that has some Fly stuff. It also important to use a thinner in addition to the cement or the tie job will come out milky colored. For the thread I've been using uni big fly thread from Hagens. Pretty strong and builds up quicker due to the thickness. There's plenty of other good stuff that will work and I'm sure others will have some good names and sources that I'd like to hear about too. Good luck fixin! It's fun getting them back in the game ready for another wam fest

hello, I use epoxy.is dry in 5 minutes, it is water resistant. before using bait waiting for a few days, will not become opaque.
Epoxy buy it in hardware shop or in the store for fly fishing.tying feathers and hair I used for years for wire streamers sea, 350den. extra strong thread or Kevlar wire for big sea streamer

Finger nail polish adds some nice color, and fleck to your rap!

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails (it's a clear coat finger nail polish). Your wife/girlfriend probably has some that you can use if not it costs about $2 a bottle. Works really good & I like it better than head cement.

I like the nail polish deal sometimes too...steal my girlfriends all the time when there's a cool one. I've been using this clear glitter flake one a lot to finish after or sometimes by itself. Makes for a cool glitter finish on the tie job and the built in brush is kinda nice!

I use a 2 layer system, first I put on fly head cement because it's made to penetrate, then I put on a couple coats of clear nail Polish.

i do the same as beaver, I dont use alot of glue, if your tying things properly you shouldnt have too. I like to use regular head cement and top it off with a couple brushes of clear nail polish. I started doing this this year and all tails have held up nicely. chances are if it is a good lure the hair and feathers will wear out well before the glue does. I take more time laying the hair or feathers correclty than i do worrying about if the glue will hold.
