| Fish Tiger muskie quite a bit but headed on a trip to Vermillion on saturday for a week and would like some input on water temperatures to focus on - not exact temps but as the water temps drop in the fall should I be focusing more on the warmer water areas or the cooler water areas.
Under the assumption that the structure is similar. For example if I find a weedbed at 64 degrees and another a mile away at 61 degrees what are you recommendations?
Also any key structure you would recommend this time of year?

Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | With the air temps in the Low 60's to low 30's (28* this am) and the water temps dropping,... I would start out casting deeper points and mid lake structure about a cast away than normal.....Than work your way in a bit shallower.
Weed fish may have moved off the edge and some fish will bury themselves in that stuff.
Find current, saddles, steep shoreline drop offs and fish those
I'd say they are used to the warmer water, so try to fish that....
The fish can be anywhere during this early fall water temp drop.....Good Luck

Location: Northern IL | First of all what does fishing "tigers" have to do with fishing any other kind of fish? Answer,...... not one single thing! A fish is a fish. Dustin, I'm not beating on you but really? The first thing we need to do as fisherman is stop giving a fish, "any fish" including the high and mighty muskie, ha! more credit than he deserves. We know he has the brain the size of a "pea"..... He is a cold blooded creature and controlled by his environment. He has NEVER,,, had an original thought in his existence and is totally predictable. They're completely stupid, and 100% reactionary to the weather and water condition in which they live.
If you've never been to this lake or if you've been a hundred times what you need to do on "this" trip, and all, is be totally flexible in your presentation of lures. Meaning, we need to understand that in order for a "spot", or a "structure".... situation to be good, "in the shallows" (8'-10' or less), I assume your a caster... it must lead all the way from the shallows to the deep. (you find these areas, spots, much quicker by being a "good" troller) You will need to be willing to check "all" the depths and all the speeds on these "productive" structure situations both trolling and casting. Your interpretation of a "productive" structure situation is vital.
Your goal is to figure out "where" the majority of the fish, "school" are spending their time and the speed they're willing to take a bait and when, time of the day they are willing to strike.

Fall water temps...target
