Location: Wausau/Phillips WI | I voted for the Shallowraider just because it really works good in certain situations where I can swim it thru pckets in heavy weed beds. The others all have their places too but I could only vote for one, and the Shallowraider really has been working.

| Rich, I know what you mean...I'm a Believer, I couldn't leave her if I tried...what is so neat about the Believer is the fact that it was supposedly named after the #1 hit, "I'm A Believer", composed by the Monkeys, way back yonder in the 60s. These were no ordinary monkeys; so often the word "monkey" is associated w/ a class of primates, but these were actual peeps that for some reason or another called themselves "monkeys". Mike Nesmith(bith?), Mickey Dolenz, Davey Jones and Peter ? were their names. Things get foggier over the years, but the names are close. Chicks really dug them, so we often tried to hum their tunes in school in hopes of attracting one of them; never did work for me though...anyhows, think of all the times you hear peeps saying things like "quit monkeying around", or perhaps "too much monkey business" and other such stuff. One thing that I have considered is the fact that any bait w/ an attachment/tail could be called a "monkey bait", since they somewhat resemble the backside of a primate, they live in trees, and that is where most of me baits stay! Speaking of monkeys, I gotta go get this one off me back..... |

Got to say Grandma Lures! Loved the old dogs, love the new ones too. Jake makes a hell of nice bait.

Location: Lafayette, IN | Jakes. But I must submit one personal fav that my brother-in-law handcrafted from basswood. It's called "Firepike" and yes, he came up with the name before some commercial outfit used it on their bait. (See my photo album for a peek.) It's caught my biggest musky to date!

Location: Southern W.Va. | Don't laugh but I've had more action from a Cotton Cordel 7" minnow that I got for striper fishing then any other minnow bait that I've owned or saw used. Twitch it , steady crank or fished like a jerkbait, all seens to work for me here in W.Va. Can't wait till I get to LOTW this fall and try it in the Great North.

Some of the other posts make me wonder what the definition of a "Minnow Bait" is? I never considered a Believer a minnow bait but then again I live in Wisconsin and maybe it's just another one of those "only in Wisconsin" things! Craig Eversoll |
