Anyone have any information on Presque Isle lake in Vilas? If I go there a few times this fall should I expect a lot of other boats? Any tips? I've fished some deepish clear lakes before with some success but not a whole lot.

I go down to the town of Presque Isle all the time anyways for suckers, so the lake isn't far away at all, I'd like to give it a shot. If conditions are bad I assume I can swing into Van Vliet, since I have a smaller boat (17 foot bass tracker).

Went there today, no fish but I like what I see. Was windy so a bit questionable in my dads boat, but we managed.

Dang that channel into the other lakes is shallow.

I fished it once a couple years ago for about 4 hours about this time of year. I got lucky and caught one in 75 feet of water on a sucker 12' down. Definately clear water and little weed growth from what I saw.

Seems like a lake that could hold some big fish, but I probably wouldn't plan to catch them too regularly! Just my observation from a very very short amount of time on the lake.

That's about what I figured. I usually stick to smaller lakes (<100 acres), but am looking for a new boat. Want to try a few bigger lakes out to justify going a bit bigger than my dads 17' Bass Tracker.

Plus Presque Isle is actually closer than the lakes that I normally fish. And I think it holds bigger fish, and I'm getting tired of the same 4 lakes over and over and over.
