Location: WI | After seeing the thread about boat face lifts I thought I would share a few pics of a project boat I built for a client a few years ago. Can you make an old 14 foot Starcraft into a ligitamate musky boat. I believe you can. This boat has nearly fifty Muskies under its belt and is ideal for exploring small northern Wisconsin lakes. Custom casting decks and floors and modern tm and amenities makes it a great little boat. Fresh paint and new carpet through out. Not bad for an old '77 Starcraft.

Location: Grand Marais, MN | Thats pretty sick.. I do most of my musky fishing out of 14' aluminum lund and 8 horse yamaha. Your upgrades to that boat would make a world of difference in terms of fishability and comfort.
if you had to guess, how much weight did that add to the boat? curious because with low amounts of hp speed drops fast in that style of boat |

Location: Minocqua, WI | Awesome conversion. I did something similar like this (layout style) but to a 14ft dilapidated jon boat I fixed up for small rivers and float trips. I'll share that one when I find time to post it all.  |

Location: WI | You do need to watch the amount of weight you add. We put in a sheet and a half of 3/4" marine ply wood for the floors and deck and a half of a sheet of 3/8" 8ply marine grade weighing just under 100 pounds plus carpets. It has a 1998 15 horse evenrude on it and does about 20 with two guys and gear. It originally had an older 9.9 on it and struggled to plane out. I will say the low center of gravity and added weight definitely stabilized the boat for casting.

Location: Madtown, WI | Awesome job! The title thread reminds me of my college project, pulled a boat out of the woods and did a complete tear down and rebuild on a 59' Chrestliner. Really cool little musky boat for the solo angler.

Location: Home of the 2016 World Series Champion Cubs | My last two boats received modifications and upgrades. I love small boats when the situation calls for it. There will be a small rig added to my arsenal once I retire and leave the city. I learned a whole lot from another site that specializes in TinBoats. Mostly smaller and mostly older but all usually receive some sort of owner modifications. Lots of old outboard resources too so you can breath new life into the motor. Worth your while to find it and check it out. |
