Location: Contrarian Island | On water at 5:30pm tonight....last cast at 9:30pm...
in between 10 hit the net with 7 over 40" to 47" biggest...
lost 2, (1 over 40) missed 3...one boat, 2 guys, and some Hair Nation, and New Glarus beers..not sure why they went bonkers but they did.... not sure we will ever see a night like this again...but we will try....
What made them go nuts...others on the same lake (19 teams in league) didn't see a fish....we just found a pack of them I guess... what would jerry b the spoonplugger say since all the fish were shallower than 6 feet of water ...

Congrats on a great evening on the water! |

Location: Contrarian Island | in 20 years I've never experienced a night like this..
right place, right time, right baits, right speed, triggered em. May never see it again... it's one of those nights we all dream of.

Location: Hayward WI | I think the moon has something to do with it. Look at last years league nite in June, it was also on the day of the new moon and from the pictures at the awards banquet, there were alot of big fish caught that nite. |

Location: NorthCentral WI | Nice job, sounds like fun. That must have been quite the point total for the night. I would guess that would put you first in your league by a long shot.
Pelican lake league only had 2 fish last night despite the new moon and a big front moving into the area. Lots of teams were pushed off the water early.

Location: minocqua, wi. | moon plus the big front and powerful storms that moved through wisconsin = perfect storm ... in the north unfortunately the front hit with power an hour ahead.
brad, how close were the storms to where you were? being on the frontal boundary with the new moon (i assume) may have been the ticket?? |

Location: Central Wisconsin | I had a great night as well! I got a late start but managed to catch 5 fish in 62 mins. The first four fish were in a 44 min window, 37", 39.5", 44.5", and a 46". All my fish came from 7:12pm - 8:14pm while wading. All hand landed. Didn't see another after that. I also lost a 37"-38" between the four bigger ones. A night I likely won't ever top! |

Location: Central Wisconsin | Man I wish I could've gotten out there earlier. I fished from 6:45pm - 8:45pm and immediatly when I stepped in the river, I saw one porpoising. I'm assuming it just ate? I'm still jacked about it! Even though I have a case of hamburger hand. Would have been even better if it was league night! Good job Brad! |

Location: Perryville, MO | "Awesome!" is the first thing any fisherman should say. Followed by a "Congrats!" The spoonplugger would probably continue by saying that you intercepted a strong shallow movement. It happens from time to time and you were in the right place with the right controls (depth, speed, etc.) Then, they probably add that they do it regularly. LOL |

Location: Contrarian Island | thx, yah have had a few really good windows over the years but nothing like this... as far as what we were doing different, yes, I do think we had the upper hand in the presentation from what I could tell from the 4 or 5 other musky boats right around us

I had some luck, also. I got a 51 1/2 incher and a 41 incher, and had 7 follows yesterday afternoon.
There was hardly anybody out, which was very unusual!!!! |

Maybe this forum will go to only registered users and I'm sure the mudslinging and guest posting would stop. Have a good one Ken.

| awesome work Brad, a good lesson to be efficient when windows open ..when muskies truly turn on I'm convinced they hunt in packs. Seems like this year has been about hitting windows...you obviously found a longer window than normal, congrats!

| I have to say, I was really depressed for the last 24 hours after you guys pulled that off last night. I was one of the boats that didnt see a fish all night. You shattered our team's dream of winning league. But now looking back at it, I am excited to get back out. You guys basically did what we all are chasing, a dream night where all of the stars align and the fishing is unreal. I give you guys props for figuring out. Crushing the record year long score in one night is mind blowing. If I would have done it, I would have been bragging a hell of alot more than you are now. When someone said they heard you had 8+ plus, I told them "Maybe when he was at LOTW last week". I never thought it would be possible around here. |

Location: Contrarian Island | WaubyTackle...one of the many things I've learned is that there are no absolutes in musky fishing...could another team catch 10 or more a night...heck ya, it could be you.... many factors at play in musky fishing and it does take some luck to pull it off...it's not all about the angler, hence why I don't do PMTTs... luck is at play, some don't believe in luck, I do....
lot's of old sayings that held true that night worked...one of the biggest is don't leave fish to find fish.. we simply stayed on em and kept our baits in the water as much as possible for the 3 hour window of pure craziness...I calculated it out with all the hits and follows we had and fish in net we made about 10 casts between hits...2 different x we had fish on the very next cast after releasing one.... I hope everyone (well ok maybe not everyone) on this board gets to have a window like that and and I hope they realize and appreciate how absolutely rare they are....I know I do..good luck rest of season...keep the Positive Musky Attitude up and good things happen.... it was funny as once we got our 3rd fish I said to Mikie, "heck let's get 10. "
well we did.
you can't do what you don't believe you can do.

| Brad, congrats on a awesome night!! I really enjoyed your story! I'm sure you have had plenty of trips where you swear you're going to give muskie fishing up, (I know I have). That's the beauty of this sport. You just never know. Hard work, enjoyment of time on the water with family or friends, positive thoughts, and skies the limit! You proved it right there. Thanks for sharing your special night!!

Location: Contrarian Island | are you serious? if you are, you haven't been to LOTW.... I'd spend the whole summer on LOTW if i could... sure is nice not to have 5 boats within a few casts ....a similiar window could happen up there just as it did here...

Jeff it is no secret to all of the locals as to which lake league was on. The spot has been one of my favorites for years. Many moons ago it got little pressure but that changed a long time ago. There are no secrets on highly populated urban fisheries. Since it was during league, I'd guess there were probably about a half dozen other league boats down there when Brad and Mike opened up their can of whoop nice try on the skies. |

Location: WI | Awesome dude! I've been lucky to experience 6 and 9 fish outings. Not sure what caused the 6 fish one, but the 9 day was water temp and baitfish related. Sometimes it's like you can do no wrong, the rest of the time, well, it's musky fishing. Congrats!!! |

New moon phases definitely plays into the #s game. Good work Brad. I think musky work like pelicans and corrall their prey, then put on the bag! Monday night, about an hour east of you, I had a window of 8 hits from 9pm- to 10:20pm, boated 3 ski's, 2 large smallies, and missed 3 others which I think we're ski's. had a few 9 and 10 fish days on the woods, but those were 9 hour days. One year ago, 8/12/12, had an outing , boating 7 in 3 hours, 43,45, 50, were the 3 biggest. Ah yes, These are the good Ol days!!! you can't catch them on the couch!!! JD I'd be willing to bet, YOU WERE NOT THROWING GLIDERS!!!

Location: Tomahawk, Wisconsin | A few years ago in the Rhinelander league Gene from the musky shop caught 4 fish in less than two hours, all in the lower 40 range, they lost a few in that timeframe as well. Crescent Lake, small area, other boats hammering the same area, congrats Brad savor the moment!! |
