dawn. daybreak. breakfast time. when the "first boat of the day" launches and you no longer are alone on the lake.

Stay out as long as you can without making mistakes. If you can get out right about sunset and make it until right after dawn, you should. Make sure you have everything ready to go in the event you have one hook up. Net locked in place, headlamps ready, hook cutters, pliers ect. Try as best as possible to keep your boat free of clutter. Nothing worse than being unprepared and hooking into a monster at night. Good luck!

night fishing is great as usually by about midnight on most lakes you are one of the few left...but just because it's night doesn't mean they are gonig to bite...same thing happens at night as during the day, weather and conditions will dictate if you catch fish.... some nights suck, some nights are great... personally don't have much luck when it's very windy...dead flat calm to say 5mph wind is what i've found to be best...I have pulled many 'all nighters' and had some good action right at sunrise...other times it could be moon related... or weather....
stay alert, do a good big figure 8 and be ready for boatside strikes... nothin better than getting drilled at the boat by a 50+ at night
good luck

When, after you tow your boat to Thornapple and fish 6 hours, take a lake shower, roll up to GR for an all-nite private get-to-meetcha party at a home then the hotel, roll 2 hours home to get the dog then go fishing just before light on a local lake where you fall asleep trolling and end up beached in front of a church camp with the dogs asleep on your lap and the motor still running in the sand, and with two concerned ladies calling the police on you at 9:00am, well, you should stop somewhere before 9:00am.

But did you catch any fish??

Gald I could be helpful.

whoops, doubled up, sorry. Yes I boated a mid-30"s at the landing as I was putting in on Thorn and another mid-30"s at Bankson before I fell asleep while trolling. No fish at the AFF thing, I just could not get into the swapping of body fluids, twas uncomfortable for me.

Shower curtains on the floor, crisco and naked strangers. Sounds great till you get rite there. This mid-west boy couldn't handle it, so I went back to fishing.
