Location: New Jersey | 9.9 johnson 4 stroke, been sitting idle for a month, I start It at least once a week.
Today, I started it and noticed black stuff coming out of the prop exhaust with the water from the hose.
Engine seems to be running fine, I was just wondering what this is? concern??

Location: Elgin, IL | Rob, I don't think it's anything serious. I had a Johnson 60hp tiller (injected) that used to do that, especially after start-up from winter storage. I assumed it was fogging oil.
That motor ran great, never a problem. But, occasionally I had to wipe that stuff from the skeg. | |

Nothing to be worried about at all... It is just exhuast build up that has built up and is now draining out... totally normal...
