This is just a question for the guys that have fished a split and a full grip rod, do you like the split grip? Ordering a new rod and I'm not sure which way to go, wanted to see what everyone's preference is and why. Thanks

I like full on my muskie rods and a mixture of both on smaller rods for bass and what not

For me,

I prefer the full grip because they are shorter or (the same length as all my other rods). With the longer split grip rods I catch my jacket when I do a figure 8.

If a person uses all split grips that are the same length they are probably better, but the length issue messed me up.

Again, my opinion

I have both. The only thing I don't like is that my split grip is the rod I use for throwing Medusa's and BD's. After a few hours of ripping rubber my ribs are a lil sore from the handle rubbing them. I would must rather have a full handle for rubber baits.

After being full grip for 15 years I bought a split grip this year and won't go back. Much easier on the ribs after multiple days working baits. The full grip to me adds more pressure with the larger diameter. You are also forced to cast the correct way which makes for more accurate and longer casts.

I prefer to use my split grips for everything but trolling. I agree they make you cast more accurate. I also like the way they tuck under yourxarm and feel more secure. They also seem more balanced and sensitive.

Full for me, do alot of twitching and the cork is more comfy on my ribs rather than straight rod banging the ribs.

I have both, but prefer the look and feel of full grips anymore.

I have one of each and I prefer the full because it secures under my arm better, the split grip slides around. I don't understand how a split grip forces you to cast properly.

I have both and it doesn't really make a difference to me. I prefer the look of split grips but as far as functionality for me, they are even.

On my split grip I didn't like the slick surface of the blank under my arm when I was reeling. So I wrapped it with handle wrap and it doesn't slide around under my arm now.

I love split for my Dawg rod. I can feel the tail thumping against my ribs.

I have both. I use the full grip more though. I like to use my split grip with my big rubber baits!

Had to laugh again on Saturday...been using the T.I. splitgrip Muskie rods, love them, but most of all love the long handle. Sat we have a coldfront and went deep slow cranking deep cranks into the earths surface, fishing for bass. I don't know how many times I tried to load up my cast by grabbing for that long handle that of course wasn't there!

Full grip.

I've tried my buddy's split grip and like someone else mentioned, it slides around.

I like the full grip as I can lock it in against my ribs without it sliding around.

I have never tried a split grip. Bro in law swears by them for the "forced casting position" but I guess i never worried about poor casting technique. I am curious about buoyancy... anybody ever have one go overboard and if so, were you able to retrieve the rod? cork obviously floats... had a down rod pop out of a rod holder while trolling and thankfully it was a full cork and was floating for me to come back around on it and pick it out of the drink.

doesn't matter in my opinion, feel depends on personal preference, but slit grips are a bit lighter

I don't understand it either. I prefer full.
