Well, I got burned. I bought a reel here with "some boat rash" and it's clear that the thumbbar was used and abused so that it won't rebound anymore. The only solution I can see (the guts are fine) is to find a revo 61 frame, which isn't proving easy.

The problem is that the thumbbar digs channels into the frame. I'm wondering if anyone has had any success using epoxies to build up plastic and then sanding it down? Really a bummer that the reel was misrepresented but also that it otherwise is mechanically sound.

Good thing about the revos is that they are easy to fix and all parts are available. Should be able to find parts here:

Contact PIKEMASTER.  I would just send him the reel...he knows what he is doing.

replace the kick lever and grease the teflon slides for the thumb bar.

If the frame has grooves then U have to replace it, around $45.00 with shipping.
I have epoxy a thin piece of metal over the back of frame and file down the thumb to make it fit, alot of work but it will work.

I would but I've had it for a couple months and just paired it with the rod. I should have given it a more thorough inspection and made a bigger deal about it immediately. Thanks for the advice. I found the frame online and I think I'll be trying to pick one up.

We've got 4 revos and the thumb bars stick on all of them. None of them are abused, they are all cleaned and oiled regularly, and none of them have more than a few hundred hours of use. Interesting. Going to have to take them all apart and see what I find.

Just once I would like to find a reel made with parts that last longer than the line I put on the reel.
