Probably going to pick up a couple of these soon and was wondering how these bucktails compare to some of the other brands. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I've had trouble keeping the blades spinning with a number of showgirls I've bought. I've never had problems with the cowgirls, though

Always check the curcular flashy sticker they put on one of the blades - if that is peeling up at all at the edges, that is the number one reason why blades have a tougher time starting. Cut off that peeled up edge or take the entire sticker off and no more problem spinning

I think the flashabou is too long on some of them.. The skirt sticks in the clevises, and wont let the blades spin.. Little trimming on the top part of the flashabou skirt with a scissors and mine work for the most part..

Or if you make your own bucktails, you can always rewire it with an extra bead or 2 keeping the skirt a little farther from the blades..
I like them.. They've caught me a few nice fish over the last few years too..

The other thing you can try is to bend one of the clevises where it attaches to the wire. Messing with those will allow the blades to spin better as well. Just because Bucktails are generally a straight forward bait. they still need to be tweaked from time to time

Make sure your clevises are a perfect "U" shape. Any slight bend can cause spin issues. Easy to tweeeeek

I have had issues getting them to open up with every showgirl me or my buddies own. We tweaked them every way we could think of. I just think the blades are too light.

I agree with the blades being to light. My best ones are my old ones. Seems like they changed something with there blades over the years?

I tried to give a honest opinion to your part of the question... (" how these bucktails compare to some of the other brands. Any input would be greatly appreciated"), but it was deleted/edited. I own PLENTY of Cowgirls & Showgirls. Yes they move fish/catch fish.

As far comparing them to other brands (like YOU asked), I guess that can't be done on the board here, sorry.
