Location: Pewaukee Lake | With all the floating weeds this year my trolling rods have been put to the test. Broke three rods this year when accidently hitting large clumps of floating weeds. All three were Cabelas Depthmasters and they broke in the handle just in front of the down east rod holders. Looking for imput on some of the most durable rods out there that can withstand this abuse!!!
Thanks!! |

Location: Pewaukee, WI | Where I fish floating weeds is a big problum so the rods are alway in the water and taking a beating. I've had all sorts of problums with 2 piece rods so I went to Thorne Bros. Glass trolling rods. Well worth the money! They can make them to your spec.'s on length, action, handle length, ect. ect. 5 years later and no troubles! |

| I second what Bill is saying. I troll Blades at 5+ MPH and this rod will take the abuse. |

Location: Pewaukee Lake | Thanks guys! Just hesitant on dropping a couple hundred bucks on a trolling rod. I'm gonna give the Tackle Industries trolling rods a shot. Might be a bit to stiff. If they don't work out thorne bros will prob get the nod. |

| Can you find a Shakespeare Ugly Stik that suits your needs? Wouldn't that be strong enough? |

| No reason to spend hundreds on a trolling rod. Black River, Tackle Industries, Shimano TDR, and Gander Mountain all make really good trolling rods for a reasonable price. |

| I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Musky Innovations trolling/live bait rods! They are insanely tough, reasonably priced and much more "live" than an Ugly. Don't get me wrong, the big Ugly stiks are bomb proof but, they absorb so much bait action that you can't feel how your bait is working. If you are rarely trolling the ugly will work fine. If you wanna step it up a little the MI rod is a great value. You could pass either one down to your grandkids!
edit: I've also used the shimanos(can't remember those weird names) and liked them but I never found one heavy enough for the big stuff. |

| I'm happy with my Okuma trolling rods. They have withstood pulling medium to big baits. And, landing fish up to 54.5".

| X2 on the Musky Innovations trolling rods they are great especially for bigger baits and pulling inline boards
I have sold a ton of them.
