| How does this lake compare to others in the area for Muskie? |
|
| |
|
| Good numbers and has size potental. The DNR take real good care of it from what I have heard. There are many members on this board that fish it.
Scott Jenkins guides it...www.muskyu.com for more details. |

| I like it best in that area. Good weeds and clear water but does have some bloom in the summer but not bad. It's no wake untill 10am and has a cop on the lake who will write you up if you make one. Expect most of your musky to be in the 30's, some smaller and I have heard of bigger ones too. There are lots of bass too and since it's 18" and 1 fish, you will catch some nice bass musky fishing too. |

| Silver Lake is a good alternative to the Chain in my opinion. Not to big not to small, you will have to work for your fish. They open a nice resturant on the south end, for breaks. Last year November (2001) was great, but this year it was very disappointment. I will be there starting in May throwing twitchbaits. Good fishing, Al[:praise:] |

| I am on the spot here so I guess I have to fess up.........
I live two blocks from Silver Lake (Kenosha County) and I was on the lake once last year.
My personal opinion - your chances of boating a 40+" fish are much greater on the Fox Chain - 10 minutes away. I like the options and vast areas of water on the Fox Chain. If something isn't going on one lake on the Fox Chain, you can move around - 6500 acres. AND - there is no season - so you can get your boat out there at ice out and fish until ice up - with the mild weather it seems the open water season gets longer and longer each year.
I would also rather drive to Madison or Pewaukee area and fish big water than spend the time on Silver.
ToddM summed up one of the best things about Silver. No wake from 7pm to 10am AND it is police boat monitored. It is kind of funny because it never fails that some idiot comes out there and tries to get away with running around on plane during no wake hours and gets nailed.
Also, you will work hard for what you get.
I say give it a try. Alan is right, it is a nice alternative to have. |

| Silver lost A ton of fish when we had some bad spring floods about 5yrs ago. Spring is hit or miss, summer night fishing is the way to go. The sucker bite in the fall is normaly prety good. Most fish are low to mid 30s but bigger fish are present. I caught A 421/2 and A 44 and seen A solid 48+ in 2002. It is far from A great musky lake but it's worth your time .

| The lake is known for a solid sucker bite in the fall. This past season was the exception. I batttled brutal winter like conditions out there all by myself a few days this fall and had only a couple fish pick up, none in the boat. One left bite marks in a sucker that have me wishing I could have taken her picture. I bet she was pushing upper 40's. |

| I beat the piss out of Silver last year....and it was tough tough tough! From what I am told, the lake is hit or miss from year to year. Caught a few dinks, and only saw a few worth chasing. But, I hate the Chain, and I love the no-wake til 10AM. Did better (strangely) out there in the Spring than the fall. Small spinnerbaits and baby dawgs had success, and a suick in fall.
