Location: Maplewood, MN | I've been going back and forth a lot recently with what style leaders I use. So my question is, what leader do you use? Do you make your own? If so, do you tie direct to the line or use a swivel, etc... |

| I buy some from Thorne's, but I have also made my own 7 strand leaders. I like the Nylon coated wire instead of regular 7 strand. I like the Stringease Stay-Lok Snaps, and the Dual rotating Ball Bearing swivels from Thorne's. For Jerkbait's I have used the O-ring, and 174# Piano wire. I think for some Larger baits I am going to just use Split Rings instead of snaps.

| SS wire, stringease snaps, ball bearing swivels
I've built and used a lot of leaders with all the usual kinds of material and hardware but I"m back to the basics and keeping it real simple:
casting big weagles -- 8" cowgirl wire -- #4.5 stringease snap shrink tubed to one end, line tied direct to loop at other end
casting almost everything else -- 10" cowgirl wire, #4.5 stringease snap one end, ball bearing swivel other end
casting dainty stuff (eg 6" Jake, Long A) -- 10" 0.029 wire, #4 stringease, bb swivels

Location: Maplewood, MN | Any pictures? I've been trying the hybrid leader system but so far haven't set the hook yet. It looks good but I might take it off because the uni to uni makes me nervous. |

Location: MN | I started to make some of my own with 49 strand wire. It's a 7x7 weave that is very flexible and hardly kinks at all. For jerkbaits and gliders I run a straight, single-strand wire leader without a swivel on the front. I found that the swivel inhibits the bait's action otherwise.

I only use Stealth leaders and John does great work. |
