| I just started fishing muskies and I am having a dillema. Only being 5'6" I am having a hard time trying to find a rod to use for throwing jerk baits. Most shorter rods only allow 1-3 oz. baits. I am trying to find a rod that will at least go up to 5 ozs. so I can throw standard size Bulldawgs as well as still being able to use it for Suicks at 2 oz. and Mantas at 3.5 oz. I am aware that having two different is the best answer but with limited space in a boat having more isn't going to work. |

| I am 5'7" and use a St. Croix Triumph 7' XH (3-8oz) that I found on clearance for $60 a year ago. There's also a Triumph 7'6" XH (2-6oz), the Mojo series that offers a 7'2" XH (3-8oz) and a 7'6" XH (2-6oz) and the Premier I believe has 6'10", 7' and 7'6" in similar actions. I use a Revo Toro 61 for my reel, I think I get a little better action using my right hand to move the bait. And I don't recommend this type of rod for Bulldawgs, I use a 8' XH (2-6oz) Gander Mountain rod for regular/mag dawgs, the tip flex helps throwing them. If I could only have one all-purpose rod, it would be an 8' XH (2-6oz). |

Location: Minnesota | I'm 5 8. I like my 7 '6" but for rubber I use a 9'8"I use 9 foot and longer most off the time.I can get the bait deeper on the 8 and just makes things easier for me but that it's just me |

| I also keep St. Croix's "Classic Jerk" in the locker with a solid wire leader for baits that need the most finesse in getting to work just right. It clearly feels really short compared to what I am using most of the time but it's one of those tools that are just the perfect one for jobs the longer stuff can't always do just right. |

| I use a G Loomis 826C (6'10") for all my jerkbaits. It has a lure rating from 1 to 5 ounces (and I have thrown lures up to 7 ounces with this rod). Just a great rod and I like the short length (really allows to work the bait a little better, in my opinion). Unfortunately, G Loomis doesn't make them anymore (I bought three of them as backups when I found out they were discontinued), but you maybe able to find one in good condition if you look around. Good luck in your search. |

| Im 6'3 but even if I was 7'3 Id still use a short jerkbait rod you get more room to pivot the tip and vary wtd baits
if you bought the 6'2 shimano compre you'll do just fine Ive used these rods for over 12 years, and they dont cost an arm and leg in fact you can usually get a good deal on one at swapmeets or advertise for one on the swapboard alot of guys just have their old 6ft rods just bsitting in a corner gathering dust |

Location: Land of the Musky | TI will have a new 7' XH and XXH out in 3 weeks. They were made to be used as jerkbait rods (and shorter rubber rods). I should have them ready to ship during the 10% off July rod special too. |
