Maybe there a couple guys from my area that are familiar with this creek. East fork creek runs directly behind my house. It's no deeper than 2ft in any given stretch. Water is stagnant/murky. Anyway if I don't have Anything to do in the evening I take an ultra light and catch the oversize creek chubs and sometimes a largemouth in the 7-8" range. With a few sunfish thrown in.
Walked down there today and notice a fish laying just under the surface beside a brush pile in the creek. I was probably 15-20ft away and figured it was a bass. I pitched a zara puppy over close to it and it immediately shot out like a missle to hit it. It just didn't get hooked. I continued to throw stuff at it. Finally it followed a small rapala original almost up to the bank. It sure wasn't no bass. After getting 2-3 good looks at it after several follows I realized it was either A) baby like 6" long muskie, or B) pickerel.
There is no way (I don't think) a muskie or pair of muskies could survive in east fork. It gets pretty bad in the summer. No oxygen at all hardly. I also don't see how a muskie would have been put here in the first place. I also don't think we have many if any pickerel here at all. Anyone familiar with this creek that could offer an opinion?
I'm going to go back in a day or two and try to catch it again. I'm pretty sure I can, if I do I'll post a pic. I still can't believe either one are in this creek. Sorry for the ramble..just really confused lol

| Where is the Lawrence County you are talking about? There is a Lawrence County is Western Pa. Chair pickerel are native to the Atlantic drainage. If you are west of there, could it have been a grass pickerel? | |
