Can anyone explain the pitch centrifugal brake system on these reels? I guess I didn't realize I could change these. I mostly cast double 10s and want the most distance possible without any resistance. I want to make sure I don't have any of these
"Popped" out correct. Some have springs...some are open??? Thanks for any who can help!
Toro reels have 6 spool brakes, 3 will say pitch and 3 with springs, ABU will set them up from the factory with all 3 of the brakes with springs ON from the factory, on is out on the brake. The Pitch ones are for Pitching baits because they have no springs so they will be on all the time when the spool is spinning, the spring brakes turn off 3/4 into the cast. If you are backlashing alot with a Toro turn off the springs brakes and turn on the 3 pitch ones.
Your casts will have more distance with spool brakes on then trying to cast with all the brakes off, because the spool will spin faster then the line can go thur the eyes of the rod. NO THUMB is going to control a spool like spool brakes will, so use the spool brakes. |
