I love the Big kahuna when I have another guy in the boat but it's too heavy for me to handle by myself. I'm looking for a lighter net that I can handle alone....any suggestions? Thanks.

Frabill Powercatch. Pick the one that fits your needs.

Frabil conservation, made for the solo angler.

Frabill Power Stow, 38"x30". Bigger hoop dimensions than the Power Catch, it stows, and it's much lighter than the Kahuna

I have really enjoyed mine, works the same as my previous Beckman, just lighter and less tangle. BR

Frabils big game is awesome. I fish alone 90% of the time and it's what I use. It's the power catch one step below the kahuna. Same great netting in a slightly smaller package and will still handle big fish.

I have the big kahuna for fall fishing and with friends. Heavy solo fishing. I had a big game, but felt the handle to flimsy. I have a beckmans and that works great solo. Love the Big Kahuna with two people though.

I have a Kahuna, two Big Game Frabills, (the handles are not even close to 'flimsy') and a Conservation model I now have in the boat. Ben's right, it's a nice net.

That's the one I use also.

I have always been able to handle the Beckman nets alone...they are lighter then the big Frabill but have the same big bag that can handle all fish. I do have issues with fish gator rolling in the net and getting tangled, but I'm not sure that's a product issue or that happens on other nets too.

I've always used Beckmans and was wondering if the Frabill netting is less prone to snagging/tangles.  It seems like every other fish I catch does the roll and makes a huge mess in my Beckman

Yup...I have had just some real dandies lately. I had to spend about 10 minutes the other day on a low 40's that should have taken me about 20 seconds. The nets gets tangled behind that piece of jaw/bone/cartialge in the corner of the mouth and can be just a nightmare, especially if the hooks get in there too. I would love to know if Frabill users have the same problem

Not at all- I actually prefer the big kahuna solo...you cant move it as fast as some of the smaller nets but its harder to miss them And what a "livewell" for the fish as you get the hooks out. You should not try to take a fish too soon solo - bad things happen.

The frabils won't tangle like the beckman. I swapped to frabil for thar reason. Awesome nets.

Right on; I'd add that you always have your hands full netting alone with any net, kinda goes without saying... but it sure adds to the fun too. I agree 100% that the BK more than makes up for its bulk once you get use to it, but it does take some practice and a slightly different approach to lead the fish to the net though. I try to hold the bag and handle at the same time and move the fish into the net with the rod, then I strap the handle down so it stays level with the water to work on the fish.

I didn't move the net much on the second fish here (couldn't), just dipped the rim and powered her in. It was pretty rough water that day and they momentarily flipped over from the wave action when I took this, the only picture... both released just fine.
