Just asking for a little help, first season out fishing with all the right equipment. Running a 300ej curado and a Calcutta 400b both on TI 9' rods and I am having a little trouble on some of my casts. On both rods when throwing super d's, top water, gliders I can really wing them out there but when it comes to throwing the blades my casting distance is about 1/2 to 2/3. Just can't seem to get them out there. This is the first time I have ever used bait casters been a spinning guy my whole life, and just wondering if there adjustments I need to make to help get those baits out there or is this pretty common with blades? Thanks for the help!!

Do you have the cast control knob tightened down for the heavier baits? Lighten that up should help quite a bit

A blade bait has a lot of resistance in the air with big blades.. Compared to a 8" glider

Make sure that the freespool is not tightened too much, and that your magnets are not set too heavily.

With that said, bucktails will never cast as well or far as most topwaters, rubber baits, glide baits, etc due to light weight vs aeordynamics.

Your reels are fine just add more weight to your DCG 10, about 3/4 - 1oz more and that will give you the distance you are looking for. Plus they won't blow out of the water when U burn them.

Dunno if this will help you much Zombie but I adjust my reels by letting the bait hang and loosen the adj. knurled knob minutely until they drop to water and then stop rotation w/o over-spooling. Takes VERY little adjusting.

With bucktails you need to dunk them first, obviously, for the weight change.

Apologies if this is too simplistic but I'm a simplistic sort of boy...

I don't have many backlashes, like 1 or 2 per year max!! I thumb a little but usually don't need to. If backlashes do happen the words coming forthwith embarrass even me.....
