I saw that this is one of the most popular items on everyones 2003 goal list. So I thought I would help you guys with this.

Some ways I have found that works well for getting more time on the water are these suggestions. Trust me ...they work![]

1)Hey wife, I have to get a pattern together for the next tourney.

2)Hey wife, its Wednesday night fishing league.

3)Its practice for next weeks Wednesday night fishing league.

4)I have to make sure my equiptment is working before I go on the big trip.

5)Take the kids.....get the kids off the wifes back.

6)I have not fished since last Tuesday....when its Thursday. That confuses them and they say...by all means go!

7)Boat needs fixing...need to take it for a run.

8)The full moon only comes...ONCE a month.

9)I will make sure its done on Monday...trust me.

10)Get married...Having someone that can wash your clothes and get you fresh underware....will give you more time on the water..LOL

If you dont think 10 works....then why did I go from 100 to 108 days on the water when not married....to 120 to 126 days on the water when married. You see..no laundry days!
[]

The only catch...is what I am doing now...Married with Children....cuts everything in HALF!!![:p]

Be as enthusiastic at attending to your wife on the first day of a cold front as you were to fish on the day before the cold front!
Start a little later in the day than normal, on a day that would have good weather for her, and come off the water a little bit earier for her.[] []

Stay single, don't have kids, and do your laundry when you're supposed to be at work.[]

I tend to use SVL's theory of going out a bit later a lot. On weekends I get up early get all my things around the house done, then, and this is key, invite her to go along.

When the lawns mowed, the gardens weeded, and the other outdoor stuff is done she will very rarely say I can't go if I ask her to come along. She very rarely accepts the offer but it gets me on the water bunches. []

Start a lure company so you can call it work. Opens up many excuses:

Honey, I have some research and development to do
Honey, I need to test these prototypes
Honey, I need to go and troll this lure so we can advertise how deep it goes
No honey, not more testing, today I need to go fishing for new project sales.
Honey, it’s our corporate meeting. We have this legal stuff to do
Honey, I’m going fishing with, I mean evaluating the pro staff
Honey, yes honey, maybe someday we’ll break even
Honey, I’m not wasting money – I’m investing
Honey, just think of it this way – I can just write this new combo off
Honey, this tin rig just ain’t cutting it – I need that new ranger
Honey, no I’m not going up to the cabin again – I’m visiting our northern division

That's easy and what I did LOL

Become a guide and when not taking clients out you have to go prefish for the next group.

You always have to be on fish. [:p]

If your significant other is not a morning person, wake up very early and try for a little "cuddling". Usually the response will be," why don't you just go fishing? " And if not, just enjoy.. It's a win-win situation.[:)]

It goes something like this "Hey Jan I'm going fishing, if there's an emergency, call me on the cell phone".

No muss - no fuss (most of the time).

Your answer was in tonights chat. Get a replica of yourself and set it in your favorite recliner and put the remote in one hand. You could also set the replica in front of the computer. She would never know you were gone.[:0]

Two rules here assuming good health.

1)Marry right (very low maintenance)

2)Figure out how to move to the water, idealy the boat should be on a lift and ready to go.

I dont which rule is harder to complete (probably number1) but I know if you can pull those two things off it should be good for 120 days on the water!

Real men don't ask, they tell them they are going fishing!
If that fails you can always be a fishing guide.[:p]

It is easier to ask forgiveness than permission...just go fishing.

Better yet, take her along. Get her back home, and cook her dinner with the pike you normally would pitch back in the pond. Get her a seperate tackle box, and a budget to fill it up. Borrow from it alot. Get her a really nice rod and reel, use it when she can't go with. If none of this works, trade her in. If you are too upsidedown to trade, then adapt, improvise, and overcome.[]

I actually fished more locally last year than I have in a very long time, because Sue likes to fish, even with me.[::)]

I could get the "look" here but the wife does not frequent these boards.
But if I am looking for real hard core fishing I have found its better to leave the kids and wife on the dock. I know it sounds bad but what can I say.
After your married long enough they want you to go anyhow.
My wife will often get mad at me if I come in too early!
What can I say its a good life.

Like I said marry right!

Ralph, I too qualified for all but the live on a lake part...for a very long time. Then Sue asked me to go fishin'. Yup.

Still don't live on a lake.
