| MuskyOne = Nice Guy, Excellent Stick
At the Bone Lake Outing, while watching Mike and Shady eat about 60 tacos at the tavern, Mike leafed through my "Fishing Wisconsin's Top 50 Musky Lakes" book. He was reviewing a few of his favorite lakes and he personally knew all the guides who were quoted. He was also very familiar with the techniques that were recommended, usually adding tips on top of what was in the book. A couple times he pointed out techniques the guides practiced but did not talk about. He wasn't trying to brag or anything, but he sure impressed me. (The man can eat some tacos, too, let me tell you. Washes 'em down with diet 7-up, as I recall.)
Another Mike story - Mike called us on the first day of last year's Cass Lake Monster Outing. He couldn't be at the outing but he fished the tourny that occurred just before. He called to share his suggestions for us - so we could get on to fish faster. The tip he emphasized most (tandum white and nickle spinner baits in the reeds off Cedar Island, right Mike?) sure enough turned out to be one of the hot patterns for the whole week.
Anyway, Mike is an excellent fellow and a terrific fisherman. Be sure to ask him his most-ever-at-one-sitting record for eating tacos at the tavern. | |
