All else being equal ( pounds thrust ) I'm guessing a cable drive uses less of the battery reserve than a powerdrive and the auto pilot and Ipilot considerably more.

Question for guys that have switched to an Ipilot have you noticed much difference in running time before requiring recharging the battery?

115 views and no opinions. One guy I talked to switched from a power drive where he could get 2 days from a charge to an Ipilot and now cant get a full day (12 volt system )

Your opinion logically makes sense since the powerdrives would require the batter power to turn it. I am thinking the big difference you are seeing between the iPilot and the powerdrive is the GPS location battery drain. If you have a smart phone and leave your GPS locator on constantly, your phone will drain twice as quick. I have had Maxxums and Powerdrives and wasn't able to tell a difference in battery life. Battling wind affects it the most.
