Has anyone had any issues with the Lakemaster maps not loading on their Birds? Over the last two weekends I have noticed the maps are not loading. I pop the chip out, put it back in and it will work. I will leave the graph on while fishing, but switch the mode to something other than the map then when I start the boat and switch the graph back to the lake map it sits there blank and says "loading maps". I can pull the chip and reinsert it and it will work again. Any thoughts?

Not knowing anything about any updates I am going to have to say no. Dumb question I am sure, but how is this done?

Nevermind I just googled it and I feel extremely dumb for not knowing about this. I also found it could not be any easier to these updates. I will try this and see if it works. Any other thoughts on what it could be?

Have you checked Navionics? They load and update faster on the screen when your moving at high speed, plus its never outdated thru Freshest Data, more HD lakes and since your running Humminbird you can log sonar and update your chip for free. Here is a link to Navionics http://navionics.com/en/mobile-pc-app

I will be happy to answer any questions

I haven't checked the Navionics chip. The guy where I bought my bird graph from told me that the Lakemaster was better so I went with it. I know that is subject to everone's opinion. I have not been disapointed with the Lakemaster, just baffled why the graph wont work. I am going to try the updates this weekend and see if that does the trick.

If you have the later Lakemaster chips you made a good choice.
I don't believe Navionics chips have depth correction or the ability to color selected depths.

Good call on the updates too.

Nick

( I stand corrected on the color options, and depth correction for Navionics)

If you own a Gen 2 Keypad or Touch Navionics and Lowrance has some awesome features contour shading, Dynamic Tides and Currents, Easy View, Cart Sharing
Depth contour shading and shallow water highlight - Use these new features with Navionics Charts to quickly identify fishing areas of interest or to highlight shallow water - See more at:
