| Hey guys I was hoping you might be able to help me out. This last weekend the drag broke on my 6500 C-3. Well the reel repair guy has it and I got to thinking, is it possible to change the gear ratio in this reel? I am not sure what it is from the factory, but I would have to think if I can change it I would be able to gear it more user friendly for use with blades and rubber. Any thoughts? |

Location: Yahara River Chain | The C3 has 5.3:1 gears. I think you can get winch gears at 3.8:1 and I know you can get C4 gears which are 6.3:1. Just not sure of the availability of the Winch gears as its been some time since they were available in a reel.. The C3 gears are good all around gear. You may have better luck getting a power handle for the C3 and that would be better for BIG blades than a higher set of gears. |

| Thank you that info. I have a new Toro NACL with the 5.4 gears and it just seems to turn blades, even 8's a whole lot better than the C-3 does. What would be good complimenting ratio to that NACL in your opinion? |

Location: Yahara River Chain | C4 gears. I doubt if you'd want those 3.8:1 winch gears as they would only be good for hawg wobblers/creepers or slow rolling big blades - in my opinion |

| When you say "with auto shift" is it because you got one of the old 2 speed models ?
If so i doubt you can find anything else than the original gears. |

| Yeah it's one of the old 2 speed models. I was curious about the 2 speeds. I don't ever use that feature and wonder if it can be removed in lieu of different gearing. |
