Location: Stones throw away...finally!! | Needing some new kicks on the trailer. Double axle + spare. Currently own Goodyear Marathons, but am interested in any other brands that people have had good luck with. I have heard some good things about Carlisle brand tires. Please share your experiences...good or bad. Thanks. |

I'm asking about tire brands, not fielding questions on trailer maintenance...

Location: Wisconsin | Marshall, I have a camper trailer and a member of an RV forum. Lots of tire talk there as many of the trailers are quite heavy and folks travel and log serious mileage on their rigs. I can tell you that Maxxis tires get very high reviews there. Marathons did while they were manufactured in Canada and New Zealand but since switching to China have not having some poor reviews. After a good deal of research I narrowed it down to Maxxis and Kumho. I opted for the Kumho because they are speed rated which, to me, was important as I drive 70 to 75MPH when travelling. Most all trailer tires are limited on speed, so that was the deciding factor for me. Make sure that you get a tire with a weight capacity with room to spare, and always run them with the proper air pressure. If I can answer anything else, just give me a shout! Good luck with your search! |

Replaced all of my Goodyear Marathons on my tandem axle Rangertrail 3 years ago. Nothing but good to say after multiple blowouts with the Goodyears. Another bonus is they are less than 2/3 the price. I highly recommend them. |

I've had some problems with the Carlisle's wearing out fast, and have had good luck with the Goodyear Marathons. |

Location: Kodiak, AK | I just went through this dilemma. Wanted Kuhmo or Maxxis, but couldn't get any locally quickly enough for my needs, so went Carlisle. Just put 5k on them through Canada crap roads and back into Alaska and so far, so good. Got a couple more days to get to home and the ferry, but they're doing well through tough towing conditions. They are speed rated for 65, and I've had to watch my speed, but they tow at 94* with a 5,000 lb boat/trailer at 60-65 mph. |

| I have had bad luck with Carlise but that was a few years ago. I have also had blowouts with the Good Year Marathon. The most important thing is to check the date of manufacture. Even if they a brand new off the shelve. I would buy anything oldere that a year old. |
