| I upgraded my electronics to Elite 7 HDI units on the bow and console of my Ranger 680c. The front unit is the chartplotter and sonar unit which runs through the new Terrova with U2 installed when upgrading to the HDI's. The console unit is the combo with chartplotter, sonar and DI with transducer on the transom. Both units are "networked" to share waypoints.
Last week I had a chance to use them while fishing 5 days on the Manitowish Chain in Vilas County, WI. Overall, I really like the units - pretty easy to use right out of the box and the big screens are great - really crisp graphics and easy to read. I could actually read the front unit while sitting at the console. However, I did experience one issue I am trying to figure out and haven't been able to pinpoint while troubleshooting in the manual.
Often times, when first turning on the unit (which takes about a minute or so to boot up), after powering on the water depth, MPH, and water temp readings would not show. The numbers would just blink 0.0. But, depth was still determinable by reading the chart down the right side of the sonar graph. Sometimes while powering on the second unit, it would cause this issue to occur with the other unit. The only way I figured out to fix this issue on the water was to flip through the options and "Restore Default Settings." Once I restored to default settings, I would not experience the issue again until powering off and powering back up. Anyone, have any idea what might be causing this issue?

Location: MPLS Metro | I have the same unit and I have to say so far I love it. I only have the one currently but do have another one on the way. I have not experienced what you have but was wondering, does it only happen when you have both units powered up? What settings do you change to have to go back to the default settings? Are you running them on the same frequency?

| It occurred when I only had one powered up as well as when I had both powered up - often times when I powered up the second one, it would cause the other unit to have the issue. To restore default settings, I believe I went to Settings / Systems / Restore Default. They would run fine when I restored to default so I don't think it is a frequency thing. I would not change any settings while using them so effectively they should have always been on factory default settings. I also had issues with the Navionics micro chip sticking in one of them. And while on the topic of Navionics chips, I did not see a significant difference between the Lowrance map that came installed on the unit and the Navionics Lake Pro chip when I inserted it. I do have more research / learning to do with these units and the chip. These were dealer installed so I would think they were set up right but I'm just not sure. |

| Try disconnecting the network cable between the units and then power up one unit. Report the results. I wonder if they are somehow confused due to the network. |

| So I had the boat back out this past weekend and it definitely appears to be an issue of running both units together causing the issue. If one is running without the other one, it runs fine. Turn on the other one, and that one just turned on will have the issue. When I reset to default on that specific unit, the other one that was turned on first has the issue. Reset the other one to default and they run fine for a while but then one all of a sudden had the issue again. It's weird because the sonar appears to run fine because I can still see depths etc on the side of the sonar - same thing with the chartplotter. However, the readings up in the upper left hand of the screen do not show properly - Depth, temp and mph just blink 0.0 until I reset to default settings. I am not changing anything from the default settings once the units are up and running.
I also am not seeing a significant difference when using the Navionics Pro chip vs. the stock Lowrance readings. I made sure the option was selected to use data from the Navionics chip, too, but didn't appear to make a difference. Not sure what is going on with these units but it's starting to frustrate me. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Sounds like a networking issue for sure. The chart plotter definition will be dealt with in a software upgrade coming in the future from what I've been able to ascertain.
Did you do what Captain suggested and test the units running at the same time without networking? Have you worked with Lowrance on a solution? |

Some lakes it's the same information. You have to check the main lake list for the chip at Navionics to see what lakes are high definition. http://www.navionics.com/en/hotmaps-premium |
